This past week we gained running water in the kitchen, a cook-top, oven and a washer and dryer. Talk about a dream come true after 7 weeks weeks of hauling clothes to the laundromat, cooking meals in the microwave and washing dishes in the bathroom sink.
Now all that’s left are all the “little things” that need to be completed on the punch list. Things like a cabinet over the refrigerator, a little more crown molding in the kitchen and someone to paint all the mill work {that would be me}.
A new back-splash {because the other one was just too dark}, kitchen outlets that work and some sort of “jumper cable” so all the under cabinet lighting works.
Drywall needs to be scheduled to come out to patch four outlets and the seam above the fireplace.
And I need to get up off my rear and finish painting the downstairs {I’m about halfway done}.
Cameron still needs to install crown molding in the hall bathroom.
And tile guy needs to come out and finish laying the rest of the tiles around the fireplace too {one box arrived broken so Chino had to order more}.
I need to paint the laundry shelf white and Cameron needs to add crown molding and then the new laundry room will finally be complete.
The crappy living room carpet needs to be stretched too…
But before we can have that done I need to clean up this big mess. Which is lame because once the mess in the room is gone, the living room will remain empty until next spring… when round 2 of the Butterfield remodel begins. Yee-Haw.
Progress. It’s cool

Haha, so many people commented that you had replaced the back splash tile over the weekend and they liked it! Seriously though if you could find some tile similar to the colors of the wall now that the tile was removed, those colors look very nice in your kitchen. Beige and white mixed tile similar to what you had would be so pretty.

The tiles/colors around your fireplace might look good as your kitchen backsplash.

Tiling is pretty easy. You could save a few dollars and do it yourself. Ask the tile folks at Home Depot to show you how. (Try to talk to the person In store who does all their kitchen displays. That’s the gal or guy who really knows the tricks.)

Looks good Mavis. One uncommon thing I have noticed is the cooktop in front of a window. I am thinking that might be really nice to look outside while stirring and cooking. Please keep us updated as to how it is working out for you and your OCD. I am thinking I am too messy of a cook to keep the window and blinds free of bacon spatters. 🙂
