Well, we made it to London, and holy cow the city is packed!
Our First stop of the day was to the Natural History Museum to look at rocks. Yep. The Girl is a rock freak, so we walked a mile to check out the very same rocks we’ve already seen 3 times before. Seriously, who does that?
We also checked out the exhibit Animal Inside Out. Which was both creepy and cool at the same time.
And, my beloved Dodo bird. Isn’t he cute? I’d like to think I’d have a few pet Dodo birds if they were not extinct. There is just something about them that I like.
We also went to Harrods Department Store to use the loo {they’ve got the best toilets in town}. While we were there, we discovered their new pet store on the fourth floor.
We spotted a cat for 1,000 £, and overheard them telling an potential customer that a few small dogs would be arriving next week. But what was most surprising was the guinea pigs we saw priced at 35£ {$54 USD}. Now, I haven’t been into a pet store for an awfully long time, but the last time I was there, guinea pigs were about $5 each.
Is there something I’m missing here? Are guinea pigs that hard to come by? Why on earth would someone pay $54 for one? I don’t get it.
After the Natural History Museum and Harrods, we were off to Bea’s of Bloomsbury for afternoon tea. I first found out about Bea’s of Bloomsbury last January while I was searching Amazon for a new cookbook. When I saw the picture on the front cover of her book Tea with Bea, I immediately hit the ORDER button.
When the book arrived, I read it front to back, and quickly decided that the next time we were in London, we would go to her shop for high tea. And that is exactly what we did. In fact, what you see pictured above was what we ate for dinner tonight {along with a few finger sandwiches I forgot to take a picture of}.
And that, is exactly what we did this afternoon.
We came, we saw, we conquered.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go get some shut eye and rest up for tomorrow.
Peace Out Girl Scouts. I hope I’m not boring you will all these travel photos.

I’m a new member to your blog and can say it’s been quite fun to follow. Thanks for sharing!
P.S. Guinea pigs are routinely sold in pet stores for $35 here in the USA. We have two of them. However, I strongly suggest purchasing them through a home grown operation (like we did) as opposed to a pet store…thank you kindly.
Mavis says
Are you serious? They cost $35 in the US? Wowza!

Or get on Craigslist and find them free, including cage and food. People are always giving them away! (The healthiest small animals around here are from The Grange Co-op. Their rats are unsurpassed for their health!)
We got two dogs off Craigslist too! A border collie X and a Goldendoodle.
Oh, and boysenberry starts, blueberry plants, strawberry daughters, iris rhizomes, containers filled with purchased soil… lots of things!

I’m a total homebody, so getting to “travel” with you has been a lot of fun!

Are you going to go to Rome?
Mavis says
Why do you ask? Do you want to meet me there? 😉
Jennifer Jo says
I just read a book about it and the food sounds FABULOUS!
I want to see pictures of every piece of chocolate you eat.

London is beautiful but very busy. We are stationed over here at the moment and outside of the US I could not imagine living in a better place. I hope you enjoy your day in London.

Not boring in the least. I haven’t even been to Canada so I’m pretty intrigued by all of these pictures and fun filled traveling adventures!
How are the boys doing on their own at home? 😉

Loving the pictures and stories! You’ve inspired me to put together a little blog for a cruise I’m taking in two weeks with 7 other women. Let’s just hope none of the posts end with “and that’s how the ship sunk.”
But seriously, the hubby and I are planning a European country hopping vacation with our two teen girls for next spring (fingers crossed!). We love reading about you and your daughter hitting highlights of the cities and it’s giving us great ideas. We’re totally hooked.
Keep safe and happy travels!

This is awesome. Thanks for the cool pictures. I, especially love the London photos!! I wish there were more; Olympic photos would be cool too!! Have a nice trip!!

$54 seems outrageous for a guinea pig to me too. I swear they were under $10 at the mom and pop pet shop in my home town… For $54, I’d expect a cage, bedding, water bottle, food, and other accessories in addition to the guinea pig! lol

Guinea pigs for £35 do sound very expensive. I’ve just done a quick search and found them for £10.
Harrods is very expensive. I don’t think I know anyone who lives here, in the UK,who shops there!
