Ring Ring Hello….
If you have ever moved before, well then you know it’s a total drag to move food. Seriously. Especially since all our belongings will be in storage for a month while we are in-between places. So what’s a girl to do when she has a 1/2 a cup of Crisco {and a few other random items} and no pie plates available to make a crust? She gives her scraps of food to the Hillbillies. 😉 {Thanks for the Pocky Mrs. HB. You know I LOVE it!}
At the beginning of last week I was still trying to get over a cold {I’m operating at about 85% now}. And you know what the best thing for a cold is? Chicken soup/broth like 5-7 times a day. Not only does it taste good and relive the pressure in your sinuses, it keeps you hydrated. While my husband happily downs DayQuil capsules when he is sick…. I down chicken soup with lot’s of garlic in mass quantities.
Spam and eggs for the HH…. {GAG}
{My husband’s version of} Make you own dinner night. {I told you my husband doesn’t cook}. Those pizzas he made last summer were a total fluke.
Did you know you can cook beans in your rice cooker? Well apparently you can. WHO KNEW!!!! I tossed 2 cups of pinto beans in the rice cooker and added, I don’t know, maybe 6 cups of water, hit the brown rice button and about an hour later… What do you know, soft beans!
Even though I know my goal to make {most of} our meals for the week on one designated day probably won’t come into fruition until around early April, I am totally digging the taco night meal prep idea. All you have to do is add cheese, a little sour cream and your good to go. {Fresh tomatoes during the summer months of course and avocado if you have it}.
I think there is still one box of spaghetti noodles, 1 bag of egg noodles and a 1/3 of bag of birds nest pasta left in the pantry. Translation: We will be eating a lot of pasta over the next 12 days.
The Girl’s version of we need to clean out the freezer/random dinner night. Those mini wontons, she loves them!
Well she did until all 4 of her wisdom teeth came out on Friday.
These days she’s eating oatmeal, scrambled eggs, Jell-O, pasta and whatever fruit is left in the freezer {when she’s not using it for an ice pack} smoothies and tea. Lot’s and lot’s of tea.
Food wise, the next few weeks are going to be a little wonky. But that’s okay with me, variety is good. How boring life would be if we stuck to the same regimen week after week?
Hey, it’s Monday! Let’s do this!

Can you gift any of it to Monkey Boy? Is your daughter moving with you or will she still live in WA? I am just curious because we would like to move but are nervous of leaving one son who lives at home but is in college full time and our daughter. It just feels like a big transition for us I guess, and I am curious how other people about our age make the break.

My mom remarried between my junior and senior years in college. It was fine. I mostly lived at school by then, and opted to stay on campus in the summers. I visited her new house for holidays and weekends.
Of course, that’s going to be more expensive for the college kid who lives at home. Will need a new place!

Add some ginger to your chicken soup with the garlic. Tastes awesome and ginger kills rhinoviruses and helps with sore throats.

YES!! Ginger is the best

Where are you moving? To a mini-farm? Maybe you can garden again, as much as you did in the last house…but maybe a little less…
Sue says
Or maybe a little more…

My wisdom teeth didn’t even try to come up until I was pregnant at 25. It was a pain having to wait to get them remove until after baby was done baking. Poor girl
