Hi, I’m Mavis. I went to the store twice last week to buy food for my family. My shopping trips were so stinkin’ RAD you are going to pass out with amazement. I hope you’re sitting down.
Albertsons $.99
Thanks to the Albertsons Summer Sizzlin’ Sweepstakes, we won 6 free doughnuts. I would have put all of them in the picture but the frosting was totally smeared and I almost started to break out in hives because I simply couldn’t imagine showing a photograph of ugly doughnuts. So I just left them in the sack. This whole problem could have been avoided of course if Monkey Boy someone would have placed the doughnuts in a box.
Next time I will give more specific directions.
Luckily, my Albertsons store is part of the Preferred Rewards program that gives you a $5 store coupon for every 5,000 points you redeem. I knew I was getting close the 5,000 mark so I had my cashier ring up the free doughnuts, free tickets, free ketchup and the rewards points first, so a $5 off coupon would spit out and the bottom of my receipt. Then, once the $5 coupon was in my hand, I had her ring up the coffee. With the coupon, only had to pay $.99.
Safeway $2.81
I used the $3.00 catalina coupon I earned last week and ended up only having to pay $2.81 out of pocket for 2 gallons of milk and some peaches.
If you’re new around here and thinking, Holy Crap, how do these people survive on a couple of doughnuts and milk? What are they doing? Eating dirt? Head on over HERE and you can see what I bought last week. Maybe that will help explain why I didn’t need to buy a ton of food.
So what did YOU buy last week? Did you spend a ton of dough, or just use items from you stockpile?

Doughnuts: Simple and Delicious Recipes to Make at Home ~ Amazon $11.32
Something new is happening in the doughnut world: boutique bakeries are popping up everywhere, and “designer doughnuts” are all the rage. The best news of all is that they’re actually easy to make at home. And really, is there anything more scrumptious than a fresh doughnut?
In Doughnuts, prepare to be tempted by more than fifty recipes, including Chai, Huckleberry Cheesecake, and Red Velvet. Of course, the cookbook is also full of traditional recipes for favorites like Old-Fashioned Sour Cream and Chocolate Raised doughnuts, as well as vegan and gluten-free recipes.

Donuts in a bag! – what the heck. LOL! I need to cash in my donuts/bagels again – those look yum… Interesting perks program you have up there. Do you have the gas rewards one too? For every $50 you spend, you get 5-cents off gas..maybe it’s 10-cents, can’t remember. And it’s the net and not the gross – so like when I bought all those olives and razors, I scored big. We just gassed up the truck and saved $1.70 per gallon!

*correction, I meant to say that it’s the GROSS and not the NET (so you get credit for the pre-coupon spend).
