We came home from vacation last week to find ourselves knee deep in beans, zucchinis and cherry tomatoes, so we didn’t actually need to many groceries.
But I’m pretty excited about the Albertsons Round Up on the horizon, I already placed an order for 2 things, and now I’m just waiting to get the ad in my hand to see what else will be a killer deal. We’ll see.
Here is what I picked up this week.
Albertsons $2.50
Plain yogurt for Zucchini Brownies.
Albertsons $1.99
Fresh dill for Dilly Pickles.
Albertsons $ 3.13
Total Spent This Week $7.62
Total Spent This Year $851.47
Total Spent This Year on Garden Seeds/Supplies $496.58
Total “Seed Money” donations received $23.00
So there you have it, a pretty boring week {grocery shopping wise} indeed.
How are you doing on your grocery budget lately? Are you a gardener?
Is you garden your supermarket?

Mavis, take some of that cheap milk and yogurt (if live cultures) and use it to make your own yogurt!
I found an easy recipe for crockpot yogurt. yummy!
1/2 gallon milk + 1/2 cup yogurt + about 6 hours = 1/2 gallon homemade yogurt
Mavis says
Really? I should give that a try.

I mix homemade apple butter in with it like this, but if I want to eat it plain, I filter it through a coffee filter.

Ooo please share the details of the recipe! I tried to make yogurt once before in the oven and it was ok (a pain in the butt), but I’d like to try a different method.

I noticed in one of your posts, you said you are not making pickles this year. I am beginning to can and would love to know how to make pickles. Would you mind sharing the how-to for canning cucumbers? Thank you!

I see the coupons still on the Planters, I used mine on 18 boxes of Mac n Cheese and 6 jars of PB for 18.78. After pricing Kraft Mac n Cheese for the last month I could not make myself pay $1+ for it, I really miss the days of 3 for $1 cuz that’s about all it’s worth.
Am stoked for Roundup! STarKist tuna for free or almost free depending on the ads.
