These pants freakin’ rule, but I totally need to find a top to complete this outfit. I don’t have a lot of experience in the fashion department so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, what kind of shoes would go with these pants? Help!
Alright, enough about the pants, here is what I picked up this week –
Target $6.16
I was at Target picking up some acne cream* {yee-haw!} and grabbed some milk and 2 oranges. The oranges were for Helen’s Old Fashioned Cranberry Sauce, the milk was for the Monkeys, and the Clean and Clear Acne cream* was for my face. I don’t know what I was thinking buying at it Target because it’s $7 less on Amazon.com. Man, I totally missed the boat on that one. And for those of you who are wondering, YES, Clean and Clear Acne cream does work!
My Gevalia Tea pot and 4 boxes of tea arrived! I counted the expense last week and I have been VERY PLEASED with this purchase. The free tea kettle deal is gone, but now Gevalia is now offering 4 boxes of tea and 2 coffee/tea cups for only $9.99 shipped!
Ahoy Matey! I used all the Vitacost credit I had in my account and scored a bunch of free groceries. Coffee for the Handsome Husband, Pirates Booty for Monkey Boy, and Rice for our stir fry meals. Vitacost is still offering a $10 credit towards your first order when you sign up, so you might want to check it out.
Remember about the sweet deal I told you about on the SODIAL Fashion Leopard Pattern Scarf? Well it arrived, and Girl and I both love it! The Girl is planning on gifting it to someone on her Christmas list this year, and I just took a peek at the price and the scarf and it’s now only $4.39 SHIPPED*!
Local Produce Store – FREE
I used the free apples to make a cranberry apple pie, and the tomatoes and lettuce for taco night.
Albertsons Double Coupons – $4.35
I think I did pretty well at Albertsons this time around, I was able to pick up a few needed baking supplies, free peppers and a jar of Nutella for my daughter. You can read about my shopping trip HERE.
How did you do this past week? Did you snag any awesome deals, or just stay home? Inquiring minds, want to know!

I can’t remember the tops worn with those type of pants in the 70s, but I sure do remember wearing 3″ to 6″ platform shoes with them! LOL

Oh My Word… I was hoping someone would say sandles. LOL

Hi Mavis,
I am in my mid 40’s and suffered with adult acne, when I started taking Evening Primrose Oil for another health issue an amazing thing happened, my acne cleared up. I Googled it and found that this has happened with others as well. Thought I would share this info with you. Love your blog!

Thanks Elaine. 🙂

OK this is what you need…definitely the platforms heels, at least 3 inches. Also you need a short sleeved mock turtleneck in a coordinating color, do NOT tuck in as you will need a gold link belt to go at the waist over the sweater. The ends of the belt should dangle. You also need gold hoop earrings, green eye shadow to match the pants. A small purse, also with gold link chain. Oh and accessorize with a little necklace that just hangs of the edge of your mock turtle would be appropriate. Then you will look just like all the girls in my Freshman class at college in 1974. Shimmer gloss on the lips, black mascara, either hair stick straight, or as I used to do, pin curl it up at night and have a stand out frizz in the a.m.
Elizabeth says
Oh and for going out if cool you need an oversize long but skinny sweater cardigan.
I mean you will be appearing in public, probably to do your shopping once your outfit is complete, right??
Mary Ann says
OMG, that is all so perfect! lol

I would suggest a butterfly collared shirt. Maybe since it’s christmas you could find one in red satin to rock! Definitely platform shoes or clogs would be even better! I was in the 10 and under age group during the 70’s, but I clearly remember wearing a denim vest with rick rack sewn on it….. Thank goodness for bad memories!
Mavis says
Oh I like the butterfly shirt idea!

Hey Mavis,
Totally curious about the gift card deal at Albies right now… do you know if Amazon cards are included in that?
Mavis says
Nope. ;( No Amazon. I may get a Lowe’s gift card, but I have not decided yet. We’ll see.
Susan Robinson says
Mavis, my dear, you MUST have huge platform shoes with these totally rad pants!
Oh, and I received my Gevalia tea shipment today as well. Such an awesome deal! Thank you for finding it!

Did your $10 off Vitacost promotion require you to buy $30 worth of items? Or have they changed the deal?
