Fred Meyer $ 49.88
This past week The Girl and I picked up 2 cases of peaches from Fred Meyer. Freezing Peaches is an awesome way to make summer fruit last a wee bit longer.Peaches were $1.28 a pound, a found B1G1 Free coupons for the Tillamook yogurt in the dairy case and I used up the rest of our baking soda so I needed more.
Money Saving Tip: When you buy a case of fruit, be sure and ask if the store offers a “case discount.” My store gave me 10% off. I have found that the decision it’s pretty much up to the store manager, so be sure and ask. 🙂
Mr. Produce Guy – FREE
Thanks to Mr. Produce Guy we had plenty of fresh fruit for smoothies, salads and snacking this past week.
We didn’t need much this week, but we sure did make a dent in the budget. Oh well, I’d rather stock up on fresh produce when it’s in season and preserve it then have to pay some sort of ridiculous price for it when it’s out of season.
How about YOU? Did you stock up on anything good this past week? Have you been buying lot’s of fruit lately too?

Peaches come from a can
They were put there by a man
In a factory downtown
If I had my little way
I’d eat peaches every day
Sun soaking bulges in the shade

And now I know what song will be stuck in my head for the rest of the day…haha!

A woman from our church knows the owners of a strawberry farm and after they harvested what they needed, they had her invite all her friends from church to come glean the berry fields ! My son came home with 5 very full hotel pans of sweet ripe berries. I made 19 pints of jam, 5 quarts of strawberry lemonade concentrate 3 big trays full of dehydrated strawberries, a big ziplock full of berries for the freezer as well as some strawberry puree ! I am so excited ! I never had so many berries in the house at once ! And the best part of it all was that those berries were free !

I probably missed this… Do you eat meat? Pasta? Beans? I never see those items. Just curious. I am looking forward to making some peach jam this year. Oh – I have more squash than I know what to do with. Can it be preserved somehow?

Yes to all of them. I buy Zaycon chicken twice a year in bulk, pasta a couple of times a year in waves {10-20 boxes at a time, and beans in the bulk foods section.
