Fred Meyer – $26.50
Fred Meyer is hopping with deals this week! 2 pounds of our favorite Tillamook cheese for only $3.99, butter 3 for $5, peanut butter $1.25 each, milk $.99 for a half gallon and local Foster Farms whole chickens are on sale for $.99 a pound. Sweet Diggety! Oh and I almost forgot, Tillamook yogurt is on sale for $.33 each, and I had B1G1 coupons. Yee-Haw!
Mr. Produce Guy- FREE
Between our garden and all the free produce we get from Mr. Produce Guy each week, I hardly had to buy anything!
We have so many tomatoes sitting on the kitchen counter and on the back deck right now it’s crazy! I can barely keep up. This has been such a great year for tomatoes that it’s been a little overwhelming at times. I can only imagine what it must have been like for the pilgrims to have such a short window of time to preserve a years worth of food.
How did you do this week? Did you find any awesome deals at the grocery store?
~Mavis

I love Tillamook cheese. I’m not a very straight slicer, so I stopped by the deli and had them slice up the block of cheese for me so it’s all ready for sandwiches, etc.
Laura says
Brilliant! They didn’t mind doing it? I have had problems asking the meat guy to cut a roast in 2 pieces, so I am not sure my FM will cooperate. Here is hoping as I have the same slicing problem, lol!
Barb says
Well, they always do it for me, but they don’t all “like” to do it. I do try to make sure it is a slow time in the deli so I’m not holding up the line for any other customers.

Two people, $100.00 a WEEK in groceries. Embarrassing. We eat organic, healthy food….and this drives up the grocery bill. I envy your ability to cut costs!

Did you miss the peaches and nectarines at Fred Meyer for .88 cents a pound!!!! Make some yummy peach cobbler with those babies! 😛
Mavis Butterfield says
I’ve already stocked up on peaches for the year, but that is a great price!

Well I think I got the better end of a barter that happened last week. Had a bottle of zesty Italian salad dressing that we don’t use (was gifted to me) because I make my own, so I decided to try and swap for peanut butter from a friend who has kids that do not like peanut butter. Thought it would be an even trade, 16 oz. bottle of salad dressing for 16 oz jar of peanut butter. Was I ever wrong! Ended up with 152 oz of peanut butter! That’s 2 40 oz jars, 2 28 oz jars and a 16 oz. jar. Plus a dozen eggs, a pound of butter and 2 pounds of organic sugar. All FREE!

I got two big boxes of lettuces- leafy green, red sails, Romaine + bag of organic celery, cilantro and dill from my produce guy! Thanks to my gallon size Food Saver vacuum canisters, I have lettuce packed in them in the fridge! I even labeled the canisters- “Lettuce for salads, tacos, etc ” and “Unchopped lettuce for sandwiches “. It’s amazing that by labeling them DS (in college) and DH actually find and use them!!! I also pre make salad kits for grab and go lunches in small vacuum sealed canisters!!!! What a savings and it stays fresh for about 2 weeks!!!

Kinda wish we had some bigger chain stores in my area for better deals but our small town local store has some deals if you watch for them.

How I miss Tillamook cheese!!! We don’t get it here in NC, when I go home to visit Idaho it’s something I always make sure to buy.
Judy Terwilliger says
I don’t think the pilgrims had to worry about tomatoes…….

your tomatoes look awesome! here on the east coast (phila, pa) the tomato season has been less than stellar. all the local farmers and backyard gardeners i’ve talked to have been complaining about it. i’ve harvested about 60-70 lbs of my own paste tomatoes, they are small, but they work

Be sure to check the Fred Meyer 91¢ daily deal for the anniversary sale. Today, for Wed. 9/18 it is a deli chicken for 91¢. Talk about a great deal. Have to load it to the FM card, but it is pretty easy to do.
Mavis Butterfield says
I saw that, thanks Nancy D. 🙂
