A few weeks ago while the HH and I were exploring mid coast Maine we stopped off at the Muscongus Bay Lobster Company for lunch. Before we had even started on this journey to find the best lobster shack in New England, I was secretly on the hunt for a lobster shack on a dock, with lobster boats and lobster pots nearby with picnic tables to enjoy your lunch on out in the open air.
Muscongus Bay Lobster was all that and a bag of chips. The only thing missing was a few handsome fishermen unloading the day’s catch on the dock.
This place not only gets five stars for scenery, but according to the HH the boiled lobster, and clams were big and tasty. They even included a mug of broth for dipping the clams in. I had the Caesar salad of course… and well, it tasted like a Caesar salad. 😉
It kind of makes you want to buy a boat and live on the sea. In the summertime at least. Winter, not so much. After having a wood stove in the house to keep me warm in the winter…. I don’t think I’d ever want to live without one again.
Check out the nets! I wonder how many lobster dinners have been boiled in those. Kind of cool if you ask me. It almost makes you want to wear one of those fisherman sweaters and walk around in muck boots, and talk in a heavy accent, doesn’t it?
1 boiled lobster, 1 pound of steamers and an ear of corn. The HH gives the Muscongus Bay Lobster Company in Round Pond, Maine a five out of 5 stars. It’s the perfect place to stop by for a bite to eat, or to bring out of town guests.
Keep calm and explore on,
~Mavis

Oh my, you are making me sooo homesick for Maine! Have to keep telling myself that in the future, maybe…

What are some of the best cities to visit in Maine?

Very picturesque with the dock and nets etc. Glad your husband likes the lobster etc. But my opinion yuck.
Like eating a big bug lol.

WOW!!! What gorgeous photos. Those could truly be turned into canvas prints and hung on a wall, they’re so lovely! I used to live on the southeastern coast of Connecticut years ago and some of those little coastal fishing towns are just so pretty. Sounds- and looks- like a great place to eat! I enjoy reading about your adventures. 🙂

Love that place, though parking can be a hassle, if go at a busy time. I bet the line was much shorter that the one at Reds Eats.
Since you seem to go to that part of ME frequently, you should try the Hardy Boat cruise to Monhegan. The lobster shack on the dock there has a beautiful view too. But the absolute best place to see is the Boothbay botanical garden. You will love it.

Thanks for the heads up on the Boothbay Botanical Garden!

I second the suggestion to take the Hardy Boat cruise out to Monhegan Island. It is like stepping back into another century. My family has been going there for 5 generations, and I think that you would love it.
