You mentioned peppers and then didn’t list any. Are you growing any from seed? I did the mini peppers last year, and they were a big hit.
Mavis Butterfield says
I just added them in. 🙂
Christie says
Thanks, Mavis! Your posts are the best! Can you write about how and when you start your seeds? I’m a newbie. Someone told me to get an insulation board and lay Christmas rope lights down to make a cheap heat mat! If I were to make an overnight light, what kinds of fluorescent bulbs do I need?
Debbie Crincoli says
Not understanding why you are not SAVING your seed from year to year? It makes for better, disease resistant, plants climatized to your area. Start with heirloom and continue with heirloom.
Mavis Butterfield says
Actually, I do save some of my seeds. 🙂
Cheryl says
Just exactly how much space do you have to grow in? I am extremely jealous!!!!!
Laura says
You’re missing Baby Boo pumpkins to go with your Jack Be Littles.
Also, Yellow Brandywine and Ace tomatoes are the only ones I will be growing next year. Well, Sungold of course!
Tracy says
Thank you!
Kaia says
What about green peppers? That seems to be something you buy quite a bit in your weekly updates. Also corn.. that’s all I see that you don’t have! That’s a lot of varieties–fun!!
Debbie says
What about radishes? 🙂
Leslie says
Cipollini onions? Oh swoon! (Did I really just swoon over onions??) I’m jealous 🙂 I didn’t see them when I placed my seed order. Looks like I need to place another order!
Mavis Butterfield says
Don’t they look cool?
Ann Marie says
What about some fruits too? Rhubarb, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, cantaloupe?
Peggy Stenglein says
What an awesome list!! Cozelle squash is great, we grew it last summer and it has a nice sweet, mild taste, and an incredibly long keeper if it doesn’t get bruised! (I actually still have one left that was picked in late Sep. or early Oct. ~ it’s quite ripe, the green turning yellow, but that’s okay, this is the one I’m saving for seed! Lakota is a new one for me this year, I can’t wait. Have you tried Luffa gourd? They are awesome, you let them dry and use for dish sponges, bath sponges, they are wonderful! We also grow all the goodies needed for our Zesty Salsa from the Ball Blue Book…wonderful! Sorry, I could go on and on even more…I’m a major gardening addict!! Happy Gardening!!
Paula says
Are you still going to have room for all these varieties now that you’re scaling back the garden?
Mavis Butterfield says
Yes, I think so. 🙂
Paula says
Sweet. I’m scaling back, too, as well as moving from the Seattle area to the Grand Coulee area. So that is from Zone 8 to Zone 6. The new garden will be maybe a third of my current garden and without the fruit trees, berries and greenhouses. BUT since my growing conditions will be drastically different, I’m thinking the smaller garden will be a good thing the first year.
Elizabeth says
I highly recommend Delicata Squash!!
Cindy says
We just bought a 6 acre farmette in June of last year. Can’t wait to get the fence up this year for the garden. I love your site and have learned alot! Keep it coming! 🙂
Mavis Butterfield says
Thanks Cindy! 🙂
