Quote of the Day: ” Real optimism is aware of problems but recognizes solutions; knows about difficulties but believes they can be overcome; sees the negatives but accentuated the positives; is exposed to the worst but expect the best; has reason to complain but chooses to smile.” William Arthur Ward

So yesterday. Drinking all that water. Was interesting.
I started my morning off with 2 {14 ounce} mugs of tea with milk and sugar. {Both consumed by 5am in case you are wondering}. Then I switched to water. I finished drinking my gallon of water by 6pm {6:30 is my cut off time for food and water generally}. I feel fine. No noticeable changes yet but it wasn’t a big deal. True, I’d rather be drinking warm delicious tea with sugar and milk all day long instead of water… but I’m thinking if I can reduce my sugar and milk intake a bit, by the time I do that Whole30 thing it shouldn’t be a big deal. We’ll see.
Have a great day everyone, think snow!!!

I’ve been drinking warm/not too hot water for over twenty years. My students at school sometimes think I’m drinking coffee or some other goody all day. When I show them it’s just plain water, they no longer think I’m trying to do something different than they are allowed. Mine is just in a mug, not a water bottle. It warms my hands and my soul on these cold winter days.

I call it silver tea.

Hi Mavis- the latest research on how much water to drink states that too much is hard on kidney function. According to scientists you should drink as much as your body tells you to- drink when you feel thirsty. Maybe a gallon a day is a little excessive (?) I’m certainly not an expert but you might want to do some research about optimum amounts. Love your blog !

Warm water with lemon is also a great way to get more water in during the day and also kind of feel like you’re drinking tea 🙂

You going to wait to do your Whole 30 until you are done with your pastry shop research? The two are not compatible.
Lissa says
A Whole 30?! Yippeee. About to start my 3rd one. Love it!
Lissa says
Oh wow. The more I think about it the Whole 30 might be a bigger challenge for you than growing several tons of food. No rice, no grains, no legumes–many of your budget saving staples. Zaycon, Mrs.H eggs and your garden might save you. You should probably time your 30 days for when your garden booms. Seriously, if you want to talk turkey about the reality of this life changing “diet” I’m happy to give you some insight. I highly, highly recommend it but it does require a toal mindset (and budget) shift. Doing the Whole 30 while maintaining a budget might be your claim to (greater) fame!

Go Mavis! You’re going to thrive on the W30. I bet you’ll have some great new (to me) recipes. Think I’ll join you. I do it once or twice a year. It’s a love/hate thing, for me!
