Quote of the Day “Opportunities are like sunrises. If you wait too long, you miss them.” ~ William Arthur Ward
Hello Wednesday! How is your week going so far? Anything exciting going on? Yesterday we harvested the remaining vegetables in the garden {I’ll tell you about it in a bit} and stacked a giant pile of wood in the garage. The HH’s walk behind snow blower is set to arrive tomorrow {for Lucy’s backyard race track out to the coop} and then next on the agenda is to find a roof rake. Hopefully then, we’ll be ready for winter. But who knows…. This year has had such a learning curve. 😉
Have a great day everyone, and bundle up.

So I am curious, why do you need a roof rake?
Robin in WI says
To remove snow from the roof before it forms ice dams that can cause leaks. 🙂
E in Upstate NY says
Or to remove snow from the roof before it gets too heavy and collapses the roof.
Amy P says
Thanks. It seems really dangerous to stand and have snow come down on top of you! Glad we don’t have that much snow in my area.
Robin in WI says
Perhaps also a bag of ice melt on hand, for icy steps/pavement? Look for brands that are safer for dog paws. I don’t like using a lot of ice melt so for the porch steps I went to a local store called Fleet Farm and bought a large square of rubber mat for barn floors – has holes in it. Had them cut it into strips to fit the steps. It’s like the rubber stair treads.
Robin in WI says
Another ice-battling method is an ice chipper – a heavy pole with a metal blade on the end. I used it to break up frozen puddles.
Mavis Butterfield says
Thank you! I will tell the HH to order it. 🙂

Check this out for the snow on the roof…
