Yesterday Lucy and I spent some time visiting with Pinky and the Girls and sprucing up the teepee area. With all the sunshine we’ve been having the last few days I figured it was finally time to start getting the garden area cleaned up.
A few weeks ago I started some peas in a couple of containers. 2 pots on the patio and 1 batch in a old gutter. As expected, the peas planted in the pots all rotted because of all of the rain we had. But the peas I started in the gutter on the side of the house, well they survived and so yesterday I transferred them to the teepee area. Now that the weather is starting to warm up again I’ll plant an additional packet of peas around the base of the teepee. With a little luck, we should be harvesting peas in around 60 days or so.
The scarves have all been washed and packed away for fall. 😉
And Pinky and the Girls have new hunting grounds… The oregano and shasta daisy patch on the side of the house. I think their pink plastic bodies will look marvelous against the white daisies once they bloom later this summer.
Spring is finally here and I couldn’t be happier.
And Lucy? Well she’s thrilled to be using those pretty paws of hers to dig up the garden area for me whenever I need her too. Life is good!
I posted a little video on Facebook yesterday of Lucy in action. What a good little pup she is. We’re so lucky to have her.
Have a great tuesday everyone,
~Mavis

Today is seems as though Spring (and rain) have arrived in Seacoast New Hampshire, which made me think of yet ANOTHER special place to recommend to you for your next New England adventure–Fuller Gardens. Fuller Gardens are very close to Portsmouth, NH, along the seacoast, and open from Mother’s Day to mid-October. Google them—I think they are right up your alley!!!

I am adding it to my list!!! Thanks Carolina. 🙂

Didn’t you plant blueberries (a hedge?) a couple of years ago when you first moved in?
Whatever happened to them?
Mavis Butterfield says
Yes! I planted it out front by the gate. They are still there. I try and remember to take a picture and share.

How do you keep Lucy from digging where you don’t want her to?
Mavis Butterfield says
She’s really good about that. If she sees me digging a hole I’ll ask her to DIG… and she will. Otherwise she’s really good about not digging on her own.

Mavis– how do you wash Lucy’s paws? Just in the kitchen sink? We try to wipe our pup’s paws with a wet washcloth, but that really doesn’t get all the dirt from between the toes.
Mavis Butterfield says
Besides giving her a bath about once a month {or if she rolls in something stinky} I don’t worry about washing her paws. She spends most of her time on the grass and we have a good indoor/outdoor mats in place.
