I came a cross a few pictures of ridiculously large vegetables and just had to share. I keep telling myself that one day I’m going to try and grow a gigantic pumpkin… But maybe an enormous zucchini would be easier.
To date, the worlds largest zucchini weighed in at 113lbs and was grown by Ken Dade in Norfolk, England. Wowza! I’ve heard of zucchinis the size of baseball bats, but 113lbs? That’s just plain nuts. I wonder what on earth the little woman did with all that squash?
Look what else I found…
Lebanese farmer Khalil Semhat, from the southern city of Tyre, grew a Sweet potato weighing 24.9 pounds. That would totally be enough for about 50 sweet potato pies.
And for all you pumpkin growers out there, the world’s biggest pumpkin weighed in at 1689 lbs in 2007 at the Topsfield Fair of Massachusetts. I wonder if he let his kids carve it?
Cool stuff!
Have you ever grown anything super big before? Please tell me you have. I want to know it really is possible.
