Last week I was busy with preparing for the yard sale but I also bought quite a few groceries {more than I had planned to actually} so our refrigerator is nice and full. I am going for another “no spend week” because I am over my grocery budget for the month, but mostly because I want to stay in this week… the stores… do they seem more crowded in the summertime to you?
Anywho, one of the meals I made last week homemade tortillas. I served them with beans, rice, chicken and home canned salsa. My crew loved them.
I pretty much ate big salads for linner each day while I packed leftovers for the HH.
Winco $ 77.71
I picked up a few fun things for Monkey Boy {White Castle Burgers, Nutty Bars and Marshmallow Fluff} and bought a bunch of fruits and veggies for The Girl. Zoi yogurt was on sale again for $2.78 so I stocked up on that too.
Winco. It’s always an adventure. Has anyone tried the whole chicken in a can?
Costco $40.44
Mrs. HB and I popped by Costco last week and I picked a few of their sale items. All the sample stations were out and I think I tried every single one of them. 🙂 My favorite time of year for Costco samples is during the holidays though when they have all the cheese samples. I’ve been craving Yancy’s Horseradish Cheddar the past few weeks… anyone know where they sell it locally?
So the Fisher Scone mix wasn’t on sale but I have to buy at least one box a year. Mine don’t turn out quite the same as the Scones they sell at the Puyallup Fair, but man oh man are they good. I whipped up a batch on Thursday night for dinner and served them alongside a vegetable frittata.
Fred Meyer $3.58
Milk was on sale last week at Fred Meyer for $1.79 a gallon so I had Monkey Boy pick up 2 gallons on his way home from work.
Costco Pizza $10.83
So about an hour after the yard sale on Saturday the HH turns to me and asked what I was making for dinner. I just stared at him for a minute then announced I was going to order a pizza from Costco. I thought it was funny. Because HELLO, I had woken up at 4 am that morning, sold stuff at the yard sale all day {while he stayed home} and was totally exhausted. And I don’t think that even registered with him. Whatever. What do I expect, right? I’ve been making dinner for that last 25 years… why would spending all day at a yard sale change that? 😉 Husbands, they’re kind of predictable that way.
Fred Meyer $16.43
Then Sunday rolled around. And the HH offered to go the store and pick up the sale items for me. 😉 So see, it all works out in the end I guess.
- Blueberries 2 pounds $3.77 each
- Eggs $.89 per dozen
- Tomatoes $0.99 a pound
- Bread $0.89 per loaf
The Girl and her breakfast: Coffee with Oatmeal and fruit.
Second round of green beans.
I think we will be harvesting cabbage in another 2 weeks.
And last but not least… TOMATOES!
How about YOU? How is your garden doing these days and what are you harvesting? Are you finding any great deals at the grocery store lately? Do tell.
