Winco $16.54
Last week was kind of a weird grocery wise…. I didn’t need much and the HH and I were going out of town for the weekend so I only picked up a few things at Winco. This week I’ll be doing a “no spend week” so by the time next sunday rolls around I’ll probably need to stock up on few things.
Some of the prices I paid:
Asparagus $1.48 lb, Avocados $0.88, English cucumbers $0.78 each, Zucchini $0.78 lb, Green Beans $0.98 lb, Pears $0.98 lb. How do these prices compare with produce in your area?
Grocery Outlet. Do you have one in your town? I hadn’t been to one in several years so I thought I’d pop in and check out the deals after seeing a store on our road trip.
I found great deals on snacks throughout the store… Peanut butter pretzels for the boys {this size seemed more manageable than the giant tub from Costco} and Annie’s bunny grahams and crackers were all $0.99 a box.
And seasonal foods. There were a lot of them. I don’t normally buy cookie mixes but I know The Girl loves the Betty Crocker Gingerbread cookie mix so I tossed one in the cart for $0.50. Gingerbread Clif Bars for $0.59 each? Yes please!
Along with a lot of junk food and canned/boxed items there was some weird stuff too. Do you know anyone who eats Mackerel? Would it seriously taste good in a sandwich? Isn’t mackerel what they use for bait on The Deadliest Catch? And Batman cereal. What’s in that anyway?
Have you seen these before? Palm sized tortillas for “street tacos.” I thought they were cute! Although I didn’t buy them. After making homemade tortillas for so many years now I’m kind of a tortilla snob and prefer fresh, handmade ones.
I thought the cranapple juice was a good deal {105 ounces} but my favorite deal in the whole joint was the Ocean Spray Craisins for $0.50 a bag. At around $1.60 a pound that was a steal!
Grocery Outlet $26.68
Crasins $0.50 each, Clif Bars $0.59 each, Numi Tea $2.99, Gingerbread cookie mix $0.50, Peanut butter pretzels $1.99, Ginger Snaps $1.49, Kit’s Organic Peanut Butter Bars $12.00 {these are the HH’s favorite bar}.
Funny how those “side trips” can add up. 😉
Well, that’s it for me and my grocery budget this week, how about YOU? How did you do?
