Last year I asked you to send in pictures of your pantries, and those pictures blew me away. While those pictures are still welcome, I have a fun new idea that I think you guys are going to love. Well, I’m certainly going to love it!
This year on the blog, it’s all about saving money. I’ve come up quite a few ways we can save money at our house and I’ll be sharing my savings tricks, tips, and plans with you all year long, but thought it might be kind of fun to share some of yours as well.
Believe me when I say, over the years, I have learned A LOT MORE FROM YOU than you have from me. I am lucky enough to attract some of the most frugal, clever readers/cooks/gardeners out there. Seriously.
If you want to show me how you and your family save money, I would love to feature it on the blog. Just answer 5-7 {or all if you really want to} of the following questions {details help!} and submit 3-5 QUALITY photos to go along with them. Include a blurb about each of the photos, if they don’t directly relate to the questions. Sharing is the name of the game here. The more tips, the easier we can all create quality lives on less money.

I’m so excited about this. You have the greatest readers. I know I’ll be taking lots of notes. 🙂
I’m glad you’re still accepting pantry pics. I always loved those. And of course the garden pics as well.

Ooh, I like this idea! I love to read what other people do (with shopping, cooking, and general things) because I learn so much from others and their wisdom. Great idea, and happy New Year!

You picked two winners this year. I love both the money saving tips idea as well as quote vs word of the day. Also, I wanted to say that I don’t think your wool should have counted in your monthly personal spending. You use that to make things to sell on Etsy so basically it’s making you money and shouldn’t be counted as an expense. So, in my mind, you did an even more amazing job of keeping yourself on track with your personal spending!!!

I am really looking forward to reading everyone’s responses, too! When I get a moment, I’ll send a couple of ideas in that have helped us. Great idea, Mavis!

1.I get paid monthly on the first of each month. To increase my savings, I pay all my bills, presents, groceries, medical, whatever I want, throughout the month and on the 30th of the month, I move whatever is left in my checking account into my savings account. Sometimes it is only a few dollars, sometimes it is a surprisingly large amount.
2. Pay all bills on time. Paying a late fee is like setting your money on fire.
