You know those days when you can’t decide if you want a salty or sweet snack? How about both combined in the most mind blowing recipe? Holy cats these were awesome. Seriously awesome. I decided to take The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies and make them even more awesome by adding pretzels and peanut butter chips. Is your mind blown yet? Because it will be.
I was a little worried it would be too much. Like if you tried to shove everything but the kitchen sink in a cookie, it would be too much of a good thing. Not to worry. It is just the right amount of awesome. They are chewy and salty and sweet and perfect. You should make them and eat them. Lots of them.
1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 1/3 cups unsifted flour
1 teaspoon baking soda {15 Cool Uses for Baking Soda}
1/2 teaspoon salt
12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate baking chips {Ghirardelli are my favorite}
1/2 cup peanut butter chips
1/2 cup pretzel pieces, smashed into pieces
Pretzel salt or sea salt
Directions
In large mixing bowl, mix the butter with the sugar and brown sugar at medium speed until nice and creamy. Add the eggs, one at a time, and then the vanilla. Mix on low speed until incorporated. Gradually add in the flour, baking soda and salt {combine before adding} into the wet mixture. Fold in the chocolate chips, pretzels and peanut butter chips. Let chill in the fridge for at least half an hour {I had the dough in there for a few hours}.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Drop 1.5 tablespoon-size balls of dough about 2 inches apart on lined baking sheets {I use silpats}. Sprinkle with salt.
Bake 8- 9 minutes. Remove from oven, and let cool and then transfer to a wire rack. Makes 6 dozen cookies.

You are so mean for posting this! Delicious indeed, I am sure! These will be my next cookie adventure…any chance they will be as good with GF ingredients?

I have a homemade GF flour mix I want to try… it’s the $6.00 for a 4 oz bag of GF pretzels that slows me :/
Curly – I will be watching to see if it works out, too 😀

Seriously, Mavis? Did you have to go there? Now all I can think about is making these cookies. UGH!

Good Morning Mavis, I have a question to ask…if I may.
I did mix up a double batch of these last night, since I wanted to bring in a platter to share at work. My cookies spread out and were sooo thin. They were even tricky to get off the silicone mats I use. My area has been hot and pretty humid lately, not sure if that was the issue, but after 2 rounds I decided to try later. Any suggestions?
With all the leftover dough I think I’m going to try in a pan…like for a bar cookie to see how that goes.
Thanks,
Stacy
*The only thing I did omit was the PB chips…not a big fan, but did use a bit extra of pretzel and choc chips to help ‘fill in’ for the lack of them. By the way, the recipe for Vegan Pumpkin Choc chip bars -AMAZING!!!
