I recently teamed up with Glad Food Protection to take the #SAVEITSUNDAY pledge to not only help eliminate food waste in my own kitchen, but to show you some cool and creative ways you can reduce food waste in yours.
What is the #SAVEITSUNDAY pledge?
Well basically it’s about loving food more and wasting it less, one day at a time.
Today we’re talking about a totally overlooked freezable thing: juice. If you ever stumble onto a bunch of clearanced juice at the store or you have some juice in the fridge you think will go bad before you finish it, here’s the perfect solution!
Just whip out an ice cube tray {this is my favorite one that I use for those handy DIY detergent tabs too!}, pour some juice on in and plop it in the freezer.
Once the juice is frozen solid, I pop them out and bag them up in my Glad Zipper Freezer Quart Bags. Sometimes I’ll just label them and have them on hand to use in smoothies. Other times I’ll find one of my favorite smoothie recipes like the one below and bag all the ingredients together so I can just grab the Glad bag from the freezer, dump the contents into a blender and have a quick and healthy snack in seconds.
Blueberry Orange Spinach Smoothie
Ingredients
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 cup spinach
4-5 frozen orange juice cubes
1 tablespoon sweetener, optional {I used agave, but you can use honey, sugar or whatever your little heart desires}
Note: For a creamier smoothie, add 6 oz of yogurt {yogurt can also be frozen in cube trays and tossed in the bags with the other ingredients if you prefer}.
Directions
Throw all ingredients into a blender {I use my Blendtec} and blend until smooth. Enjoy!

Hi Mavis,
Do you have a link to where you have all of your smoothie recipes stored? I’m looking for one that uses fresh raspberries or frozen strawberries.
Thanks!

I realize this post is for smoothies but you can also freeze it for dessert pops too! The containers can easily be found in the summer time in most stores. It stands upright and inserts the stick right down the middle. All you have to do is pour your juice of choice and freeze.
