Pot holders by ZoeDawn
This past year, one of my goals was to hand make {or acquire for free} all of the gifts I give. I’ve also been selling a lot of my hooked rugs. That means, between getting gift ideas and listing my own items, I’ve spent a good chunk of time on Etsy. My take on Etsy is this: It’s where thousands of the coolest, most talented humans on the planet come together to sell the most awesome handmade stuff. And the more time I spend on Etsy, the more blown away I am by the crazy talent out there.
Portable Mint Tin Amp and Speaker for Electric Guitar by Ampoids
I love seeing that talent translated into a little income for people. I love that they are using the skills they’ve honed to support their livelihood! This year, I’m on a spending freeze, so I can’t support those shops in the way I’d like to. But I know so many of my readers love Etsy! So here’s your chance to get the word out about YOUR shop and promote yourself.

This is my mom’s Etsy site. She’s an artist and sells oil paintings and silk scarves that she paints by hand. My dad is a woodworker and has made some peppermills and boxes from reclaimed oak that fell on their property in the Sierra Mountains. He’s also a photographer and has put some of his photos up too.
My parents are both in their 70s and Etsy is one of their few sources of income. I hope you guys enjoy: https://www.etsy.com/shop/danijeanart?ref=l2-shopheader-name

My husband and I have had an Etsy shop since 2009. It’s mostly his woodworking. He turns assorted houseware items like bottle openers, bowls, travel mugs, etc. We also sell wooden buttons that I make from tree branches. A lot of the wood we use is salvaged from fallen trees and friends’ firewood piles.

Mavis, so kind of you to feature my shop in your post (aqua bracelet cuff above)…thank you! I love when you do this post. It’s great to learn about other Etsy shop owners who frequent your blog.
I make handcrafted jewelry, mostly one-of-a-kind pieces but I also do have some limited collection pieces that I recreate. If it’s a good thing, why not? So I mostly use silver and antique brass for the metals, and my favorite beads are Czech glass and gemstones. Recently I have been learning how to do metal stamping to make personalized jewelry. I’ve been having fun with that, making wine glass charms with all my friends’ names and even made a personalized doggie tag for a friend’s dog.
Here’s a link to my shop. Thank you for visiting my little corner in Etsy! Thanks again, Mavis!

Hi Mavis, thank you so much for promoting Etsy and all the people who have shops that are so creative and industrious!!!
I sell quilt fabric in my Etsy shop. I love my customers and try very hard to make sure they are getting value for their dollar in high quality quilt shop only fabrics at reasonable cost that are cut very generously. My ” TRUE YARD” idea is always 2 or 3 inches beyond standard cuts. My Fat Quarters are 20 inches by 22 inches minimum instead of 18 inches by 22 inches which is the standard size. When fabric is folded and made into bolts there is more tension on one side of the fold than the other. So when it is cut, the weave relaxes and if you need to straighten the grain if it was cut on the standard measurement you won’t have the full measurement afterwards.
My son also cuts custom pet grave markers that are very long lasting and unique.

My aunt’s shop is Fleurenasci. She preserves flowers in several ways, but my favorite way is how she takes flower petals & makes them into beads. She will use your own flowers (from an anniversary, special occasion, celebration of life, etc.) & will make the custom beads & jewelry which preserves bits of the petals that are visible throughout each bead. I have shipped several flowers to her & the results have been beautiful! I shipped a rose to her from a family funeral, which she used to create a pendant to remember my loved one by each time I wear it. I also shipped a few flowers from a wedding bouquet that I caught. I was able to gift a beaded necklace to the bride, made with her wedding flowers. My aunt also uses her own flowers if you simply want a beautiful gift that is based on each flower’s essence.
*I’m not affiliated with her shop in any financial way – I simply love her products
