Monkey Boy is a teen through and through, so he obviously loves pizza. Normally I whip up a pizza using my Homemade Pizza Dough recipe to avoid paying delivery pizza prices, but I had purchased a loaf of french bread the other day and decided to use that as my crust instead. It was ridiculously easy and it turned out sooo good. If you’ve never tried a french bread pizza, it’s the easiest meal on the planet, and I’m pretty sure it was done and on the table way before a pizza delivery guy could have had it to my house!
Ingredients
A loaf of French bread
Butter
Minced garlic
Pizza sauce {roughly 1 cup}
Mozzarella cheese {roughly 1 1/2-2 cups}
Desired toppings
Directions
Preheat oven to 400F. Cut the loaf crosswise in half and lay it on a cookie sheet, cut side up. Melt a tablespoon or two of butter in the microwave and mix in a little minced garlic. Spread onto the tops of the loaves. {This step is optional. Your pizza tastes great without it, but it gives the bread just a little more flavor!} Spread sauce into thin layer {or thick if you prefer it extra saucy}, sprinkle with cheese and whatever toppings float your boat. Bake at 400 F for about 10 minutes, or until cheese is browned and bubbly. Enjoy!

We have been doing this for years!! In fact, we did this for our daughter’s birthday party one year and the kids got to make their own and it was a huge hit.

I love to make this but use cream cheese instead of pizza sauce. Then layer browned sausage, veggies & top with cheddar cheese. SOOO GOOD!!!!

Wow you’ve brought back memories. Our school used to served these 40 years ago. They were called Pizza Boats!

We love doing this but use French garlic bread from the grocery store bakery. Makes it even simpler!

Grew up having Pizza Spins! English muffins as the crust. It was great for a family of 6 kids. We thought it was such a treat to get to make our own and have own special pizza. Little did we know how great it was for Mom!! Bowls of diced toppings, children lined up, make their own dinner and she pops it in the oven! (After having scored the English muffins in mass at the bakery discount and large bag, plus usually substituting with a more filling one like the ones with cornmeal on the bottoms or even whole wheat.
