The beauty of being a blogger is that I have a platform to share whatever noteworthy topic that pops into my head. Sometimes, the crazy stories I come across on the inter-web or the random thoughts that pop into my mind aren’t really noteworthy at all {on their own}. They usually make me pause, laugh, or just plain roll my eyes and I go on about my day.
A Scoop a Day Keeps the Dummy Away
I have always advocated for eating ice cream anytime. Breakfast is as good a time as any in my book and a scoop of ice cream is a proper way to start the day. Ha! Well now science is on my side! There was a study done recently by Kyorin University professor, Yoshihiko Koga, that showed eating ice cream first thing in the morning can actually be beneficial for the brain and result in better mental performance and overall alertness.
The study found “that people who had consumed ice cream for breakfast showed better reaction time and were able to process information better than those who did not have the ice cream. Further tests of brain activity also showed that the people who had ice cream first thing in the morning had an increase in high-frequency alpha waves, which are associated with higher levels of alertness and can reduce mental irritation.” Well then it’s settled. Ice cream for breakfast it is!
The Spendier the Bling, The Shorter You’ll Need the Ring
Speaking of fascinating studies, Emory University professors recently surveyed 3,000 divorced people and discovered that there is a direct correlation between how much you spend on your wedding ring and how long the marriage lasts. Basically, the more a couple spends on a wedding ring, the shorter the marriage.
According to the study, if you spend more than $20,000 on a ring, you’re 3.5 times more likely to get a divorce than couples who spend $5,000 to $10,000. If you spend $2,000 to $4,000 on a ring, then you are 1.3 times more likely to get divorced compared to those who spend $500 to $2,000 on a ring. Moral of the story? Toss that idea that you have to spend 3 month’s salary on the engagement ring right out the window! How much did you spend on your ring and how lone have you been married. Let’s see if their study holds any weight!
Our simple gold wedding bands came from Target and they were $20 each {a small fortune to us at the time}. 😉

No wedding ring. No marriage. Together for 37 years – living together for 35. Since I was 17.
Bonnie says
Married 35 years. Simple gold band from Service Merchandise that cost $50. Daughter has a $$$$$ yellow diamond – over 3 carats – married 2 years and divorcing.
Patty P says
Both our rings and our wedding were inexpensive (I can’t remember exactly what we bought our rings for, but it was under $100). Why enter into marriage in debt? We are celebrating 14 years in July and have never regretted our wedding purchases (or lack thereof)!
Laura says
Well, I am not sure if you are asking about wedding ring or engagement ring, but here goes. We spent about $200 each on the gold wedding bands (they match, too cute) and we have been married 28 years. I think the engagement ring was around $2000-2500 but I didn’t pay for it so I am not sure. Regardless, it is beautiful and I wouldn’t even consider “upgrading.” Too much love and meaning in the original to do that.
My SIL, on the other hand, “needed” a band loaded with diamonds. Clearly not my favorite idea, but works for my brother so that is all that matters!!
Faith says
My ring cost $800 and we have been married 17 yrs.
I don’t wear it anymore though, a couple years ago we got matching $20 bands and wear those now. !
Margery says
My ring was his grandma’s, our wedding bands were less then 100 a piece, I still have mine, his we have replaced 2x ( now that he has an office job no more taking it off each day for work). We have been married for 24 years this summer. My daughter got married 2 years ago, I think they spent 100 total on their rings and her engagement ring is just like her, very free spirit and less then 100.
Leanna Thompson says
Well, the first ring was 1/4 karat princess cut setting. After getting scratched by it too many times within the first two weeks of marriage hubby said “That’s it, we’re getting you a new ring.” To which I promptly said “Good, I can pick out this one.” The newer one has been on my hand for over 28 years. 3/4 total karat channel setting on engagement and wedding band with raised stone on wedding band. We added another 1/4 karat channel set ring on our 10th anniversary. Total cost $1500. Yes, we made payments. I LOVE my rings.
rachel says
His was $300, mine was $800 and we celebrate 6 very happy years this Sunday! Never wanted a big ring – not my style!
erin in ia says
I wish we hadn’t of gotten a nice engagement ring for me (it was about 3200) and instead taken a second honeymoon! I don’t wear it anymore because of my job and gardening. Said I’ll let my daughters future husband give it to her. Been married 10 years last fall.
Jill says
My engagement ring and wedding ring were bought as a set for $600. His was $300. We’ve been happily married for 25 years. People used to look at my ring and say “oh you can get a bigger diamond later” but I love mine as it is and wouldn’t trade it for anything! Some of us just aren’t into the status of big, expensive rings.
Brianna says
My hubbys band and my matching band were $400, but I don’t wear it as I also have another wedding ring from the same husband. It has my engagement solitaire ring, $3000, with a band attached that he designed with stones from his grandmothers wedding ring and my grandmother’s wedding ring. It is a beautiful heirloom and thoughtful, but cost about $2000 to have custom designed and made. I developed a gold allergy and even was patch tested by an allergist to confirm. I haven’t worn my rings in years. To have them reset in non-gold metal would cost a small fortune and not a priority for us. We’ve been married for 12 years.
Alice says
Married 44 years. My engagement ring and band were $100 (Mandell’s in Spokane, WA) A lot of money for us, with one more year of college to go. They were having a special, and his band was free. He didn’t like the feel of the band that matched mine, so they let him choose a “comfort band” (rounded edges) Made him happy.
Dawn says
I have never used those specific fruit/vegetable covers, but I have used something very similar. They work very well. I first tried one on an apple. After four days in the refrigerator with the cover, it was just as fresh as when I cut it in half.
Jill says
I’ve used them too. They are ok. Just don’t let mold get under the edge. It is a pain the clean.
Renee K says
$750 for all three rings and we just celebrated 30 years last month!
Sandra says
We’ve been married for 31 years. My ring was $600, I think. My husband’s was my grandfather’s ring, resized down for my husband’s pianist fingers.
Neither of us wear our rings nowadays. His had to be cut off due to a bad accident, and now rings irritate the scar on his finger. Mine doesn’t fit and I’m too vain to have it resized.
Rings don’t matter to us much, I guess.
Jamie says
I was only 18 when I met my husband. Our families didn’t have much money back then. His mother gave him $500 for my rings and we bought both a 1/5 karat solitaire for me and a band for him for less than that. My SIL bought me a band when she went to visit their homeland for under $100 (she was so sweet, we didn’t ask her to do this.). I only wear the band now, as it was much too large at the time and now the diamond ring is too small and the bands fits just right.
I paid for my wedding and reception for under $700. His parents paid for a second reception traditional to their homeland for under $800.
We’ve been married for 21 years and I adore him more everyday. We will be empty nesters in a few years (3 kids) and already talk of our future life together!
Jennifer says
Met and engaged in 6 days. This was in 1992, btw, not in 1952!! We went to Zales and picked it out together. Engagement ring and wedding band was $795, plus tax. We got married 5 weeks after he proposed. That was 24 years ago. I wouldn’t trade this ring for the Hope diamond.
Mavis Butterfield says
6 Days!!!! 🙂
Shelle says
Um yeah Jen, you’re gonna need to tell us this story please. SIX DAYS! And you’re not characters in a movie, right? Mavis, can Jen please hijack your blog for a post and share her story? My curiosity is going crazy!
Mavis Butterfield says
C’mon Jennifer…. We all want to hear about it. 🙂
Lace Faerie says
I second that!

My engagement ring was $800. My husband’s was around $100. I then found a wedding ring on the ground. I turned it into the police station. After several months, no one had claimed it, so I was able to claim it myself for the fee of $10. I had it evaluated and refurbished by a jeweler for $600 (as it had nicks and scratches), but it turned out to have a 1 carat diamond (plus 1 more carat of smaller diamonds) in a platinum setting, and was worth more than $15K. I am not wearing either ring now because I gained weight, but I still love them.
I have those fruit and veggie covers – they are great!
Susie says
Wow! What a find!
Karin says
Married 30 years. Hubby paid about $200 for my engagement ring. I have since upgraded but I don’t think that counts toward the study data!
Nancy from Mass says
Ours were from Service Merchandise (just like Bonnie). Mine cost less than $150 (a 4 diamond wrap – small diamonds) and DH costs under $80, i think (engraved gold band). We would have been married 23 years last sunday, but he passed away after a long illness at the beginning of the year.
I believe DH paid about $1000 for my solitaire in 1993. It is an almost perfect diamond. One small inclusion.
I put all 3 away for my son. When he decides to marry someone years from now (he’s 17), he can have them and have the diamonds reset.
Laura says
So sorry for your loss Nancy. Will keep you in my prayers.
Melissa M. says
So sorry for your loss.
Lace Faerie says
My sincerest condolences. I hope you find comfort in sweet memories.
Mavis Butterfield says
Nancy that is so sweet of you to put the rings away for your son. 🙂 We are thinking of you.
Jfred says
I think dh’s wedding band cost me $80?$90? My set was $2700. We celebrated 20 yrs this spring! He wanted to know if I wanted new rings….NOOOOO! I LOOOOVE my rings, plus I’m 100% sentimental. I never want different rings! Btw, dh wears his ring about 5/6 times a yr…his job is such that he cannot wear a wedding ring.
Barb says
Married for almost 24 years. No engagement ring. I didn’t really care if I had a wedding ring, but husband wanted me to have something, so I chose a white gold “diamond essence” ring, less than $200. Love it.
Sally says
Not sure how much my engagement ring cost but my husband paid cash. It is a pearl instead of diamond and I love it. My wedding ring is a simple gold band. My husband’s ring was made from some old gold rings melted down. Under $100. He doesn’t wear a ring anymore because of his job. My son now wears it as his wedding ring. We have been married 37 years.
Christine says
HH and I got our wedding rings 29 years ago at Service Merchandise $50 each! We were so excited! Our anniversary is next month!
Ria says
Ring set, $300. Just had our 35th anniversary!
Melonie says
We paid under $1000 for all three rings. If he hadn’t picked it out I wouldn’t have let him pay that much, haha! We have been married for 15 years and going strong.
Deborah says
If they did the did a similar study on how much was spent “putting on” a wedding, I bet the results would be similar.
Heather in Idaho says
Oh, I absolutely agree!!! People seem to put more into the “show” than their relationship….”for better OR for WORSE!” I love how Mavis says one of her goals is to dote more on her husband.
Nicely said, Deborah!
wendy says
All three original rings cost $300 total. My husband kept either losing or breaking his somehow or other. After buying a replacement, we said forget it. He insisted on buying me an upgrade a year after we were married. Spent somewhere in the $1200 area. The stones fell out of it after a few years and I quit wearing it. We both actually quit wearing any wedding rings about eleven years ago. Been married 19 years.
Michelle says
I don’t remember exactly how much we spent but here’s the story. When we met, my husband had recently broken off an engagement to someone else. When we went into the jeweler, they said they would take it back if we spent x amount more. We thought that was best for us at the time (we’ve learned a lot since then) so we did it. It’s a nice ring but nothing outrageous. We will be celebrating 20 years on the 28th.
Natasha Galbreath says
400.00 for my wedding and engagement ring set. Been together 17 years.
Shelle says
For wedding bands, we both have very simple and unadorned rings that probably cost $300-$500 total. My engagement ring was a surprise and I don’t know how much he paid for it other than it was paid for in cash. Neither of us care for debt and we certainly didn’t want to start our marriage that way. We will celebrate 10 years together in October.
I agree with a previous poster who said she’d like to see if there is a similar study about cost of weddings and length of marriages.
mable says
I am on the opposite end of the spectrum. Grew up poor, married poor. Two years after we married, husband came home with a wide-band gold wedding ring he’d had made for me when a new job gave us some breathing room. At five year anniversary, he put in a one carat diamond. At ten years, a ruby, at 15 years an emerald. At twenty years, another diamond…five years later another ruby and five years after that another emerald. We have been married 34 years now. The ring is gaudy and over the top and I love it. I have only a few other pieces of jewelry and they are not worth anything but I would not trade this ring. (I am also sure that there is some connection to the idea that when my parents and grandparents ran from the Nazis, my grandmother sewed her few good pieces into her clothing and later was able to pawn them when they got to England so they could get a modest re-start in life…my ring gives me a sense of security.)
Amy says
I love it! Thank you for sharing, Mable.
Lilypad says
My engagement ring was free—my husband’s grandfather gave us a diamond from a bracelet that had belonged to his late wife, and had his son (who happened to be a jeweler) make it into a ring for me. It was .70 carat, and I never would have paid for one that big (that’s big to me, I can’t imagine having one as big as younger women wear these days!!!) but loved having it come from the family. Our wedding rings were pretty simple, I don’t know how much they cost but it wasn’t a lot. Neither of us wear our rings any more, though—mine is too small but even before that, when my son was little I didn’t like having a poky diamond on my hand. I’d like to have it reset into a necklace someday. My husband now wears his late father’s wedding ring. We’re celebrating our 22nd anniversary this month. I’ll get As far as “upgrading” goes, do you remember the constant commercials for “The Shane Company” on the radio in the 90’s? My husband bought me tiny diamond stud earrings there in 1994. Their policy is that you can bring them back and upgrade later. I said no way!! They were the ones he could afford back them, it was so sweet of him to get them for me (for my first birthday after we had met), I love them being small and sparkly but not obnoxious, and I wear them all the time.
Heather in Idaho says
My husband lost his $100 ring (from 20 years of marriage) in our back yard creek somewhere. UGH! My son in law gave me the best jewelry tip ever! He said Amazon sells rings called “Tungsten Carbide” anywhere from approx. $20 – more. I bit the bullet and spent my $20 on a second one…….I’m not kidding, the ring is beautiful and amazing! Read the reviews!!! I only bought one because of the reviews and looking at my son in law’s ring.
This is not a sales pitch, as I don’t work for Amazon. We’re just living VERY frugally and I seriously couldn’t even afford a $50 ring, let alone a $1,000 ring!
Does this mean I’ll be married for 75 years????
Maria says
We saw someone wearing one of the tungsten rings, they really are nice!
Erin says
$300.00 (It’s all he had in his wallet at the time ;)), and will be married 25 years this August!
Marcia says
His:$100
Mine:$100 band. $3000 engagement
21 years and counting
Paula Reed says
Mavis, we bought our plain gold bands for $250 total (no engagement ring) from Fred Meyer. We had a coupon and we got gas points with our purchase! That was seven years ago, and it seems like the blink of an eye. I agree with this study. It isn’t about all the stuff, it is about the relationship.
Tina says
2 Simple Gold Bands $100/piece – married for 27 years!
Adrienne says
Our wedding bands were roughly around $50 each. We entered our marriage out of debt and thanks to our generous in laws and guests our honeymoon and ceremony were all paid for with monetary donations. We had already been living together so didn’t need any of the traditional gifts.
Judy Johnson says
My husband and I have been married 37 years. Our rings are plain bands purchased at Best Buy in 1971 for under $100. I have never taken mine off, and now it would have to be cut off. My husband could never wear his safely for work as he is an electrician, so his has been in the top dresser drawer since we came back from our very frugal wedding trip wherein we camped in the Eastern Sierras in early November. I cannot imagine doing something that crazy now-the camping, not the inexpensive rings. I also appreciate Mavis’ goal of doting even more on her husband. She is an inspiration.
Lynette says
No engagement ring and under $80 total for our two wedding rings. We just celebrated our 43 anniversary!
Tera says
My first ring was like $1500ish, but I realized after a month I was allergic to gold! 🙁 I sold it and then kept my eyes peeled for a platinum clearance ring. Found one for $1800. Broke it a few times, didn’t repair it the last time. It’s been sitting on a plate on my dresser for at least 5 years. Now I wear nothing 🙂 My husband used the gold band from his first marriage to use when we exchanged vows (so bad!) He can’t wear a ring for his job so we never bought one. We’ll be married 11 years the end of this summer.
Jessica G. says
My diamond solitaire cost about $700 and our two wedding bands cost about $200 total. The entire wedding (including rings, dress, flowers, professional photographer, cake, buffet, etc) cost about $2500. Monday is our 23rd anniversary!
Marybeth says
Didn’t have an engagement ring(couldn’t afford one). Got our wedding rings from where my husband’s aunt worked. Employees got 50% off so we told her which ones we wanted and she got them Total $100. For our 10th anniversary my husband said he wanted me to pick out an engagement ring or new wedding ring. I said no way. We went to Disney with the kids instead. I love my wedding ring and my husband. We just celebrated 24 years. Looking to go away next year alone since the kids are old enough.
My sister’s ex spent a fortune on her engagement ring. The main diamond fell out before they got married. She was so upset. The also spent a pretty penny on their wedding bands. I have know clue were those rings are. I should ask her. Maybe she hocked them to help pay for the divorce. That too cost a fortune.
Melissa says
I feel like an outlier saying this. We have been married 7 years. My engagement ring was about $10K. I love it, its name is “spark”. My wedding ring is a simple platinum band. These will probably be the only pieces of jewelry he ever buys me (my rule not his).
Michele says
It looks like I’m an outlier too. Mine was $10k also… we’ve been happily married 12 years. Funny enough, my ring will be the only time we spend any significant amount of money on jewelry also.
Lise says
We decided, for various reasons, to completely forgo wedding rings when Dah Hubz and I got married almost 10 years ago. He couldn’t wear one at his job, cause it could getinactivit machinery. I didn’t want one cause I do nursing and would have to constantly take it off to wash up, etc, or risk it ripping a glove during work. Saw a lot of mishaps happen to other nurses with rings and decided it wasn’t worth the risk. Plus, neither of us had much money at the time we decided to get married either. Heck, our whole wedding only cost us $250 (thank you Vodoo Doughnuts! Still getting compliments about it being the best wedding ceremony EVER from our guests that joined us that day!). Our honeymoon was about the same amount (went to back light mini golf in Olympia and then toured Seattle like giddy tourists!). Some days I think I get the idea I might want a ring, but then the whole impracticality of dealing with one hits me. First marriage I had expensive rings, and it was a mess. Not this time around.
Melissa says
Let’s see, his ring was $20 from KMart, mine was a gift passed down from his childless Aunt who set us up. I think my ring has a value of maybe $1000. We were married at the courthouse for $100 that my parents loaned us. August 29th we will celebrate 12 years of marriage.
Katina says
About $500 for the set of three rings. Happily married for 21 years.
Deborah says
Our plain gold bands (what I wanted) cost around $200 together. We’ve been married almost 27-1/2 years. I don’t think it’s the cost of the rings, it’s the love that has kept us together. It was both of our third marriage. Our children are the ones that got us together. His oldest son, my youngest daughter.
Lauren says
My rings from my 1st marriage were purchased for a previous engagement and we simply had the 1/4 carat diamond reset. I don’t think they cost much at the time. After we’d been married 10 years, he replaced my 1/4 carat diamond with one that was a touch over 1 carat. I never asked for anything larger but, my ex husband was all about the “show.” Long story but, we divorced after 25 years of marriage and, I needed money so I sold the gold band and tried to sell the “diamond.” Come to find out, it was a cubic zirconia and he did it so that others would be impressed! Definitely glad I got rid of that guy!
Amanda says
My husband and I are going on 12 years of marriage. We created my ring on a website I found. It was an opal (my birthstone) flanked by 2 garners (his birthstone). We spent around $100. Unfortunately the opal cracked. I finally replaced it last year after I got tired of my finger feeling naked. I found a gorgeous CZ bridal set on amazon for around $25. I have gotten so many compliments on it and nobody can believe it’s fake.
Miss Meliss says
It is interesting that this study shows exactly what I have noticed in my own family: the bigger the ring, the shorter the marriage. I have 3 cousins who have big expensive wedding sets and my mom liked to make cutting remarks about my rings (things like, “Well, if YOU’RE happy, I guess that’s enough, but did you see your cousin’s beautiful ring? Her husband knows how to take care of her.”) All 3 cousins are now separated or divorced, while my husband and I (and our less-than-$1000 rings) are celebrating 24 years this summer.
Cynthia Platon says
First marriage, the engagement ring and wedding ring set was $2500 and I didn’t like it. I had to sell it when we divorced 7 years later to provide Christmas for our children. Second marriage, the engagement ring was $25,000. We will celebrate our 25th anniversary in December!
Amy says
I don’t know what my engagement ring cost (it has been appraised at $6500 for insurance purposes) and it is beautiful but now sits safe in a drawer until I get it re-tipped. His love language is gift giving and he prefers jewelery so I usually get a small sparkly gift for Christmas. We have been married for 12 years and are looking forward to the rest of our lives together ☺️
It’s been awesome to read of all of these stories!
And if you plan on eating ice cream for breakfast, make sure it’s real ice cream and not iced dessert, LOL.

I was given a wedding set of my MIL’s which was replaced in 1986 with my mothers ring after she passed. My husbands band was $19.95. We have been married 49 years. We married at 17 and 18.
Michelle says
We paid $250 for our wedding bands (no engagement ring) and we have been married for 27 years. We also married younger at 18 and 20. We took 6 months to pay off the rings 🙂
Maria says
We never got around to buying rings at all, married 23 years.
DeeAnna says
Married 26 yrs and my heart shaped garnet and gold band (that has never been off my finger) were $120 total and I think his band was like $29.99 lol I would not replace my rings for anything even when he bought me an anniversary band…I just stacked it with the other 2 to be super fancy 🙂
Sara says
Married for 11 years. I got married young and we didn’t have much money. I decided I’d rather have one nice ring than both a wedding and engagement ring. So I have one ring that was around $600. My husband’s ring was around $80. He’s thinking of getting a ring tattooed on him though. We paid for most of our wedding and it was around $1000 (basically dress, church, cake and ice cream for everyone.) I love it all and would feel bad if we had spent tons of money on things. The only thing I wish we had done different was gotten a professional photographer for the wedding.

Husband spent less than $15 on my engagement ring. Unfortunately I lost it while decorating a cake for a friend at a church… so he bought me a replacement ring I really liked for around $150. We’ve been happily married 10 years.

Lace Faerie says
We were 18 when we went from 2 in a group of friends to a couple. My engagement ring and wedding band set was purchased for me by my mother-in-law when she saw it on sale at JC Penneys and foresaw where our relationship was going. He hadn’t said he was thinking of marriage but she knew him well. Of course my hubby repaid her immediately. It was less than $400 but to me it symbolized her approval. That meant a lot to me as she wasn’t very demonstrative. I saved my paychecks for 6 months to buy his ring, which he helped pick out. It is wide and heavy gold with 4 teensy channel set diamonds as we knew he would always work with his hands and wanted it to stand up to abuse. I was waitressing at a diner and earned $2.35 an hour. Luckily, he was still at home, attending community college while working full time, and I was living with my grandmother, so my tips earning were my savings and spending money. We were married 2-1/2 years before we had our first. After 5 years and three babies, we found a ring with a simular curve to it at Fred Meyer. The onsite goldsmith put matching marks on it and soldered all three together. I’m sure it was less than $50. As a single income family, we couldn’t have afforded much. I think the goldsmith gave us his labor as an anniversary gift.
Many, many years later, he gave me an extravagant (to us) 3 stone eternity ring at Christmas. The presentation was a complete surprise, very romantic and had our family and his in tears at the emotion and devotion it represented. We enjoyed being a couple before parenting and again as empty nesters, celebrating our 33rd anniversary next week.
Btw, we paid for our own wedding. I wore my mother’s dress from the 50’s, and my Mama made my attendants’ (our younger sisters) dresses. The invites, very simple flowers, candelabras rental and over 100 candles were given to us at cost by his employer. Our 8pm candlelight service in the church I had grown up in and the following reception was gifted to us by the church at no cost but we did give $300 for the priest’s discretionary fund.
Live life for your people, family and friends, not possessions and I think you’ll have a happier life.
E in Upstate NY says
Was faculty at a major university and started dating one of my students! We kept it from everybody for over a year until we were ready to get married. At that time, Sears was the largest diamond ring seller, so we headed there to purchase my engagement ring. His tax refund of $120 was spent on my single solitaire ring. Couldn’t tell you how many carrots it is; have the paperwork someplace. Because diamonds are his birth month, gave my hubby a silver ring with Peridot [my birth month] stone. He preferred silver and I wanted gold. Purchased our bands and his ring at local jewelry store. Think this wasn’t more than $100 total.
Segway to today, I wear my band on the left hand and my mother’s wedding ring on my little finger on right hand. The engagement ring? it’s in a box needing resetting as one of the prongs is bent. Not a priority of our life. Because of swelling due to health issues, it is a special day when he can wear rings. When he is able, he wears it with his high school ring. His stone ring is also in a box.
Have two sons, neither married yet. Have available for their use: a wedding band my husband found in a house he rented in college; my grandfather’s ring; and various male and female rings from his mother’s family.
We were married twice, first legally and second for my family. First dress I made myself. Second dress, my mother made using unknown to her, the same pattern. Wish I could have worn her dress, but we were two different body shapes. Perhaps could have fit into it when I was 12.

I call bull on the ring. They only surveyed divorced couples? What kind of study is that? Terrible sampling. Very limited data.

We spent Christmas together in Taiwan(with his family who was there for work) and got engaged there. A jeweler came to us and custom designed our rings with us, including putting our names on the inside of each other’s ring. They are pretty simple really, but I think they were just over $500 total and they’ve done the trick for 8 years now. 🙂

My first marriage lasted 20 years and ended very painfully for everyone involved, particularly our three children. My first engagement ring was a trio of three lovely diamonds and I had a gold wedder and two lovely diamond bands. I received so many compliments on my rings over the years, but I would often look at them and feel very sad because my marriage was not safe. When I left my marriage I sold the rings on ebay to start a new life,
I have a new partner and a new baby now, and no rings. I feel very loved and very safe, and I would like to have a ring one day which symbolizes our relationship. I love sparkle but feel opposed to diamonds so will choose a moissanite gem set in rose and while gold. Not sure if my partner will want a ring, I’ll be happy either way. The cost will be reasonable, the sentiment will be everything.
