One of the challenges of bringing home cart loads of free food is figuring out what to do with it. For instance, back in 2010 I came across a deal on McCormick Grinders. I don’t remember how many I was able to pick up for free but I do remember gifting them to everyone on my Christmas list. And even after passing several cases out… I still have a ton left.
For the most part I have been using the spices to season meats and to add flavoring to soups, but last night I came up with another way to use them. Croutons.
You see not only do I have a bunch of free McCormick Grinders, but I also have quite a few cans of Progresso soup I need to use up as well.
Ingredients
3-6 slices of day old bread {I used giant slices from Panera}
1/4 cup butter
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
Directions
Chop bread into cubes and set aside. In a large bowl melt butter and add seasonings. Toss bread in butter mixture, coat evenly and spread out onto a cookie sheet {I used a silpat}. Bake at 325 degrees for 10 minutes, shake pan and bake an additional to minutes. Cool and serve.
