While I didn’t keep track of every meal I ate this past week {too much other stuff going on} I did do a pretty decent job of remembering to snap some breakfast and dinner photos. So hey, there’s that to celebrate. Right?
I picked zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes rhubarb and a few leafy greens from the garden last week as well as admired all the handsome winter squash we have growing back there. 5 hubbards, 3-4 sweet meat and some sort of random squash I have yet to identify. When we finally move and I have an enormous garden again, I plan on investing a lot of my time growing all sorts of different varieties of winter squash. I just LOVE it. I could seriously eat it every day.
Albertsons $1.49
Honey Bunches of Oats. Nicely displayed by the HH. 😉
Costco $67.06
Ahhh Costco. It’s just so easy to shop there, isn’t it? Back in the old days when I would spend $800 a month on groceries… Costco got most of my money. Their convience and snack foods are awesome.
The natives were complaining that we didn’t have any “snack food” and so I picked up some Booty, Cape Cod Chips, Fig Bars and yogurts for them. The 24 pack of yogurt was a steal at $6.29 and I grabbed a sack of those giant baked potatoes to toss in the crock pot for the long days that I knew I wasn’t going to want to cook.
Yada yada yada. Here are some of the meals I ate last week:
Big salad with chicken and mozzarella balls. YUM.
Homemade vegetable soup…. with crushed lasagna noodles. Because wasting broken noodles is lame.
Vegetarian chili over rice. The boys LOVED this. I need to make it more often.
You can never go wrong with bagels and cream cheese. Even if you serve it on plates that look like they came from the 1980’s.
More salad. This time with bacon!
Smoothies are rad.
Big breakfast. I always seem to make a big breakfast on sundays and nobody complains.
Oh look, another salad. 😉 I got tired of paying $6 for the salad bar at the hospital so I decided to start making my own. Seriously. If they are not going to offer raisins, sunflower seeds or pickled beets in their line up… why bother?
So there you have it. Not exactly on budget… oh well. 😉
I would love it if someone would add up how much I’ve spent on groceries for the year so far so I can have a running tally in the coming weeks. I’ve already resigned to the fact that I will be over. And I’m totally okay with that. There are bigger fish to fry than to worry about than going over my grocery budget at this point.
Peace out,
~Mavis
