This Chicken house was really cute. I have no idea why I didn’t take a picture of the house. She even had a little mail box for her chickens and a few raised garden beds behind the coop.
I really liked this setup with a run off to the side of the coop. Ppine shavings seem to be popular “bedding” in many of the coops.
I must say that The Girl and I were both disappointed with the Seattle Chicken Coop tour. We had high hopes of fancy/Architectural Digest /Modern/Super cool looking chicken coops, but really it was nothing spectacular.
We visited 5 coops out of I think 20 something. All the people (mostly women) were very pleasant and showed us (and others) around and were happy to talk about their coops (one even offered lemonade and cookies).
But I was horrified when one of the Chicken Coop hosts had mentioned that last weekend was the first time in 5 (yes, 5) years that she had ever cleaned/scrubbed down her coop. Are you serious? Gross.
Even though I have a trendy little Eglu and I wish it was a little bigger, I am okay with the fact that I clean it every day. If I ever hosted a “coop tour” in my backyard, I’d rather admit that I have a little OCD (self diagnosed of course) and clean my little chicken house everyday than be telling people I never clean it. Gag.
So yes, it’s official. I’m a chicken coop snob.
