As Monkey Boy was packing his lunch this morning, he asked me when I would be making apple chips again. So I quickly hopped online to see if I could find any deals. All the major chain stores were pretty pricey, but we have a local produce store here in town called Harbor Greens Market and their weekly ad goes online every Wednesday so I took a peek.
When I noticed Harbor Greens was selling fresh Fuji apples for only $1 a bag, I was like hmm, I wonder how big these bags are? So while I was out running errands this morning, I stopped by to investigate.
Ahhh, lunch size bags. I wonder how many apples I can fit in a lunch sack bag I said aloud.
After weighing the 1st bag of apples I was like, heck ya, I’m loading up on apples baby. Homemade apple chips here I come. What a stinkin’ deal!
Here is what I purchased today –
- 15 + Pounds Fuji Apples $3.00 {less than $0.20 per pound!}
- 4 Sweet Peppers $.50 each
- 2 Small Avocados $0.50 each
- 2 Cucumbers $0.75 each
Grand Total: $7.50
How much are apples selling for in your area? Do you think I should go back for more apples?

I found some super small fugi apples for $0.49/lb but they’re snack sized. I would buy a ton more at $0.20/lb!

I got some fuji’s today for .89 a pound. But usually they are 1.30 or more. Have you taken a walk around other neighborhoods? Our neighbor has an apple tree that he doesn’t pick (crazy!) and he offers them to anyone who asks if they can pick them for him.

Okay…for the toilet paper contest( which, by the way, is VERY practical, Mavis):
I’d have to say that the best thing to happen to us this year has been to move back to Florida to be with our parents and extended family after 12 years. You don’t realize the value of family until they are missing. So nice to be home!
