If you’ve been following the blog this year than you know all about our goal of visiting 52 bakeries this year. {You can see all the bakeries we’ve visited so far HERE.} This time around we found our way to the small seaport town of Mystic, Connecticut.
Mystic is the home of Sift Bake Shop and let me tell you Bob, the pastries there were gorgeous!!! We happened to show up about an hour or so after the town’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade and so there were a ton of people dressed up in green and having a good time catching up with friends and neighbors. The music from the pubs echoed throughout town and it was pretty amazing. 😉
The bake shop was bustling with customers but there was still plenty of goodness to choose from. Everything from croissants, bread, fine pastries, cookies, granola and they even had a sliders and ready made sandwiches to choose from.
The Girl had a slice of some sort of mango cream cake…
And I had a deliciously stuff macaron with raspberries and cream. It was the best pastry I’ve had so far this year and I totally wanted to have seconds but with more pastry shops to visit on this trip {and the lack of stretchy pants packed} I stuck to the one. 😉
Mystic, Connecticut…. We had a whale of a good time and can’t wait to go back.

Those carrot cake rolls look amazing!!! Not a fan of mango but could probably convert for that cake. And just put all of the croissants in a box and ship directly to me, please. You can have the macroons though. Too sweet for me.
Went to my first baby shower in January where they served these cream puff/croissant things with and almondy cream center. They were so good that they restored my failing faith in humanity.
I’ll have to travel and eat pastry vicariously through you, Mavis. That’s our Mavis always on the go — eating pastry across the country. Consuming calories so we don’t have to;) It’s a tough job — somebody’s gotta do it!!
We thank your for this community service.

Mavis, you are in my home state.
If you make it up to Woodstock, CT or Putnam, CT check out either Soleil & Suns Bakery or Victoria Station. Both worthy of your appearance.
Wave towards the Woodstock woods…

That’s a macaron, not a macaroon!

Mavis,
The owner of Sift, Adam, is on Spring Baking Championship on Food Network. I had to rewind and listen when he said the name of his shop in Mystic.

Looks wonderful!!…. I’m surprised though that you didn’t go to Mystic Pizza?! One of my all time favorite movies with Julia Roberts, but maybe you have been there before. Hope to get there myself someday!! 🙂
