In case you couldn’t make it to New York for fashion week, here’s what I think will be hot in backyards all across America this season.
Grey t-shirts. Sure they show sweat stains, but man they look nice when paired with a shovel and a set of garden gloves. Nothing says Hot Mama like a grey t-shirt.
You can also get it in the long sleeved version for just a little bit more.
Personally I would only wear the white one if company was coming over. But that’s just me, maybe you are a risk taker. Me? Not so much.
Short sleeved, check!
Forget the little black dress, you know what you really need? The Essential Crew t-shirt in black from The Gap. Not only does it hide stains, but it goes great with dark jeans too.
But if you buy only 1 new thing this season, make sure it’s the LONG SLEEVED BLACK Essential Crew t-shirt. It is really the best one. I should know, I’ve been wearing it practically every day for the last, I don’t know, 5 or 10 years?
Ahhhh ha ha!
I know what I’ll be wearing. What will you be wearing this spring? Are you headed to New York, Paris, or Milan? Or are you staying stateside and planning on hitting the thrift stores, Target and the Gap instead?
Curious minds want to know.

T Shirt paired with flannel lined jeans for winter, cozy hiking socks, shoes of your choice then in the spring I make the big fashion change to regular jeans for the rest of the year. Ya I’m on the cusp of all that is fashionable. But in my defense I do have an awesome garden glove collection!

Hilarious. My color pallet is blue, green, grey, and black. I live in the south, so I include ribbed tank tops in my assortment. Also, I’m more of a v-neck gal, but basically, my “home” wardrobe is the same. Now if only I didn’t have to have a work wardrobe…

Haha! That totally cracked me up. Love the last picture.
I have a variety in my wardrobe, but tend to stick with solid crew and V-neck shirts and jeans.

Your a hoot! But watch out, someone might submit you to be on what not to wear 🙂 Even though I think you can rock a black T 🙂
Mavis says
Oh that would be hilarious. I’m not sure how the closet scene would work though since all those clothes are the exact same. 🙂 Unless of course you count the pink tutu.

I’m a jeans and t-shirt kinda gal. A few weeks ago, I went to my favorite thrift store and combined a sale and coupon to get 5 long sleeved t-shirts for free.

Sweet diggety! Nice work. 🙂

You are one funny lady, Mavis! Yes, dress those black Ts with black jeans for evening attire! Love it.

Once a year I go visit my family on the east coast and I hit up AC Moore for their store brand tees in every color under the sun, then I add on a military discount, so I end up getting them for about $3 each, lol. I usually buy 2 of each color and rock them all year, then retire them to the rag bag when the summer trip rolls around again!
Mavis says
Awesome! $3 is a great price for tees. 🙂

I have about 50 of the essential t-shirts in BLACK with a v-neck, though. Short sleeved, long sleeved, perfect for every season! Thanks for showing me I’m not alone! 😉
Mavis says

I’m IN NYC and can’t be bothered with Fashion Week. And a secret? Nobody else here really cares either. Well unless you’re a model or a designer or one of those 1%-ers. But those shirts NEED to be on the cat walk 😉 I love plain solid colored shirts, though I like them in colors too. NEVER go out of style. Keep it simple stupid
Brandie says
BHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Add white vinager to your dark wash loads to keep them from fading.

You are a riot! I have a similar wardrobe, but my colors are green, purple, and blue.

This past spring I re-organized my closet and sorted all my t-shirts by color, pretty sure that half my clothes are some sort of pink 🙂 I have about 15 basic T’s in various colors from Ann Taylor Loft, once i discovered how well they fit me I bought a TON of them and wear them almost every day.

I think you have something up on all those fashion people. By day I am found in “office wear”, but at all other times I’m in what really works – black and gray!!!! T-shirts rule!

Mavis you are to cute.
