Yesterday the hardwood guy installed our wood floors {see the picture on instagram} today he’s installing the tile in the laundry room and The Girl’s bathroom. Wahooo! Friday the counter tops are suppose to be installed so that means I should be able to unpack and get moved into the kitchen this Sunday. Yee- Ha!
But now that the floors are getting installed, that means we are going to need a couch to sit on. I sold all our couches from the last house because the family room was much larger and the couches were HUGE and would not have fit in the new house. Well, I stopped by Dania furniture the other day and found one I really liked. It’s exactly like the one above except the left side will also have a chaise added to it.
The cushions are super cozy and the fabric is crazy soft. {I’m totally not getting those pillows though}. The picture I took is a little bright, but I think the color will go well with the flooring as well as the slate around the fireplace and white kitchen. What do you think? I may snag one of those shaggy rugs from Costco to go with it to brighten up the space between the floor and the couch. Only problem is, it takes 6-8 weeks to get the couch. What do you think? Too bulky, or just right?
Happy Thursday everyone, now get out there and be AWESOME.

We bought a deeper-than-usual couch a few months ago (looks like yours is, too?) and we LOVE it. Perfect hangout couch, not too bulky. Yours doesn’t look bulky, either! It’ll be beautiful with the chaise!

I think so too!

Random question: How did you decide which way to lay your flooring?
Mavis Butterfield says
Floor guy did. I think you have to lay it the same way the floor beams for a tight fit.

Just an FYI…..I’m in the Southeast and Zaycon’s chicken sells for $2.49/lb. in our neck of the woods. It may be higher transportation costs that account for the higher price. I have found if you purchase other products from them, you are given the opportunity to purchase a limited amount at a lower price. I’ve purchased the ground beef and beef ribs and was able to purchase a case of boneless chicken for $1.49/lb.
Ashley says
I got an email from Zaycon awhile back saying that the chicken would be later and around $2.29/lb this fall. Well it is later, but I just ordered some for $1.89- woohoo! So it’s worth double checking the price if it was higher previously.
Pam- thanks for the tip on the beef!
Pam says
I pickup my chicken tomorrow. Tried to add a second case a few days ago and was given the $2.49/lb. price (decided not to order at that price – I can still get it for less from a local market). Maybe because I was already getting a case at the reduced price………….??? I’m looking at bacon for $3.79/lb. which will ship to me early next year. Great price!
Brenda says
Pam,
I just got an email from Zaycon saying that they are refunding the money that people paid when they recently raised their prices on their chicken. It will be store credit, not cash back but you might want to double check your account to see if they refunded your account. I can’t recall how long they said it would take to credit everyone, it might be awhile.
Also, I cannot recommend their bacon enough, it’s so worth it! If your serious about ordering it don’t wait, they don’t have as much available and it sells out really quick! I missed it the last time it was available because they sold out in 2 days!

I think the couch looks awesome. Some food for thought though….. we bought a couch that has a chaise attached and it has been a source of frustration. We have wanted to move the furniture placement and can’t because of the chaise. Make sure you are really happy with the way your room is to be layed out because sometimes (as in our case) it can’t be changed. My 2 cents 🙂
Sounds like your projects are moving along nicely. I’m so impressed. I wish I had a Chino!
Mavis says
Everyone should have a Chino!

Thinking about the rug from Costco. Are you considering the shaggy one with pile about 1 1/2″ high? As I was staring at them myself, a fellow Costco shopper (as seems to be the style right now-debating the functionality of an impulse buy with total strangers) asked my how I planned to vacuum it. Your thoughts?
CathyB says
I have the shaggy rug from Costco. We love how soft it is and how it adds an element of texture to the room with hardwood floors. The tag says that you can vacuum it. I vacuum mine but I use the “wood floor” option, which basically turns off the brush and just uses suction. One note about it and dogs, however; our dog LOVES this carpet and always wants to roll around and scratch on it. I try to discourage this because the tufts come out easily and I know that a dog constantly on the rug will probably make it get icky pretty quick. But I know whenever we leave the house the dog starts laying on the rug. I find evidence when we get back home of loose tufts and roll spots. So just know that it may be be a battle with the cute little puggle!
Mavis says
Good tip on the vacuum and great heads up about Lucy!

That looks exactly like the couch we bought from Dania about 5 years ago, same fabric color and everything. If it is the same, that super soft fabric is not the sturdiest and is showing some stress stretching along the back. Hard to tell if it is the same, but I think it is.
Darlene says
Yep, we live in Oregon and Zaycon chicken is now 2.49 a pound :/ Winco has all natural no hormone, no antibiotic chicken breast that’s also boneless and skinless for 1.99 a pound. They stock it nightly so it’s fresh. A better deal now unfortunately than Zaycon 🙁
Brenda says
Darlene,
Zaycon just lowered their chicken prices back to $1.89/lb again!
Good to know about Winco prices though, that would be nice for the times I run out before my next order comes in.
HollyG says
The couch looks great. I don’t know about the fabric, but if the coach is as sturdy as the ‘Bogart’ couches and chairs we bought from Dania for our HS library, it should last practically forever. Ours is leather – which has worn beautifully – and has held up with hundreds of high school students using it for over 6 years.
