When I was at Home Depot last week picking up soil and extra seed trays, I purchased a packet of celery seeds on a whim. Although celery was not on my original “to plant” list for this year it should have been. The Girl Who Thinks She’s a Bird loves celery as do her pet chickens.
As far as vegetables go, celery is a rather well-behaved plant if I do say so myself. Celery is perfect for the OCD gardener. Not only does it stand up straight, but celery is compact, neat, visually appealing and will stay put. There are no rambling vines to worry about, no droopy leaves, no white mold spots to have to check for {like squash} and critters pretty much leave the leafy vegetable alone.
I think I’m going to have to break out folding table #2 today.
5 seed trays down, 12 more to go!
