Quote of the Day “Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious…and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” ~ Walt Disney Company

Ah what memories are brought back by your posting of Harry Caudill’s “Night Comes To The Cumberlands.” Its a classic! It used to be, may still be, a required reading when studying Appalachia. Spent a few years studying and then living in the coal fields. Our oldest son was born in a miner’s hospital. As someone who was born and raised in a major city, this was a part of our American society that I had previously zero knowledge about. Am glad I did what I did, and am glad that I experienced that world, but at my age, you can’t pay me enough to go back to live there.
