Friday Night at the Movies – Truth in Numbers? Everything According to Wikipedia

I was looking for a good documentary and Amazon actually recommended Truth in Numbers? Everything According to Wikipedia. It’s free with Amazon Prime, so I thought it would be perfect for tonight. It’s a documentary that “explores the history and cultural implications of the online, user-editable encyclopedia Wikipedia. The film considers the question of whether all individuals or just experts should be tasked with editing an encyclopedia.”

I’ve always wondered about that so I think it’ll be pretty thought provoking. Should we create our own history or leave it to the experts. Who are these experts and what gives one the authority to write history? Do you think it matters?

Recently I told you about the tea service at The Grey House Café in Port Orchard, Washington. We loved it and couldn’t stop raving. I mentioned it was owned by Debbie Macomber and I got so many comments about a series called Cedar Cove, based on her books. Well I’m taking your advice and watching it because it’s free on Netflix right now. It does look awesome, but I’m afraid I’m going to get sucked in and then have a full-on Netflix binge this weekend. If you’ve seen it, do you think that’ll happen? Did you love it, too?

Friday Night at the Movies – Call the Midwife, Season 6

I just finished watching Call the Midwife Season 6 and it’s just as awesome as the first 5 seasons. It really is one of my very favorite shows and this season didn’t disappoint. I especially love it because it’s on Netflix, so I can binge watch it, because its certainly binge-watch worthy.

It’s now 1962 and times are changing, from the beacon of the contraceptive pill and the shadow of infamous gangsters the Krays, to the new welfare policies introduced by the government. Back in Poplar, when the rather austere Sister Ursula is appointed the new head of Nonnatus House, Sister Julienne finds herself demoted and working back alongside the midwives as an ordinary member of staff. She is not the only one to face challenges closer to home. As they strive to help mothers and families cope with the demands of childbearing, disability, disease and social prejudice, our beloved medics must make choices – and fight battles – of their own.

Friday Night at the Movies – The Time Traveler’s Wife

I watched The Time Traveler’s Wife a few years ago but The Girl had never seen it. So tonight we’re popping some popcorn and watching it together. I’ve always been a big Rachel McAdams fan ever since The Notebook, so I knew I’d at least like the acting. But it’s about a guy {Eric Bana} that suffers from a rare genetic disorder that causes him to drift uncontrollably back and forth through time, where he meets and marries the love of his life {McAdams}. The movie was great and definitely worth a watch, but I was a bit frustrated at times because I liked their connection and so wanted them to have a happy uncomplicated life together. His inability to remain in one time and place makes a mess of that. I’m curious if I’ll like it any more or less a second time.
