One Hundred Dollars a Month

I am your typical housewife living in high maintenance suburbia. I have a handsome husband, 2 kids and a flock of pet chickens. I try and feed my family with $100 a month. With the help of coupons, gardening and bartering I am able to squeeze the most out of our grocery budget and still manage to have a little fun along the way.

So there’s a movie called Chicken People. Based on the title alone, I knew it was a movie for me! It’s free on Amazon Prime and The Girl and I watched it and let me tell you Bob…. it’s pretty darn AWESOME! It’s not what I thought it would be about at all, but it’s basically Best in Show for chickens. And yes, there is such a thing as show chickens! The movie follows three top contenders as they head to the largest poultry competition in the nation to find out who has the best show chicken. We are giving it a thumbs up!

Friday Night at the Movies – De-Lovely

I saw De-Lovely when I was scrolling through the Amazon Prime free movies. I’d never heard of it so I’m hoping some of you can chime in if you’ve seen it and let me know if it’s any good. It gets great reviews on Amazon, so I’m thinking it should be decent. Plus, the story line sounds good. It follows the life story of songwriter, Cole Porter, during Broadway in the 20s. I like a good period piece, so I’m thinking this is what I’ll settle in to watch tonight.

Friday Night at the Movies – Regarding Henry

Even though Regarding Henry came out over 25 years ago, I still have never seen it. It came up in conversation with a friend last week when we were talking about Harrison Ford. She was shocked I’d never seen it, so I told her I’d put it on my list. A movie about a mean lawyer who gets shot and then suffers memory loss and then doesn’t remember being a mean lawyer and has to relearn everything all over again. It looks interesting. Plus, Harrison Ford is awesome. Especially young Harrison Ford.

We’re throwing it back to some old school Micheal Keaton tonight. Mr. Mom was a favorite growing up, but I haven’t seen it in years. I’m excited to revisit it! Plus, it’s free with Amazon Prime. I’m super curious to see what I think of it all these years later and from a mom perspective now. And we now live in a world where stay-at-home dads are commonplace, so I’m wondering how well received this movie would be today?
