One Hundred Dollars a Month

I am your typical housewife living in high maintenance suburbia. I have a handsome husband, 2 kids and a flock of pet chickens. I try and feed my family with $100 a month. With the help of coupons, gardening and bartering I am able to squeeze the most out of our grocery budget and still manage to have a little fun along the way.

After posting about the Shetland series last month several peeps suggested I watch Happy Valley {it’s free on Netflix!}. It follows a police sergeant from crime-riddled Happy Valley. I’ve only watched one episode, but I’m hooked, so I’m planning to binge watch the rest of the episodes over the weekend if I have time. Can we just talk about the casting? They are amazing! I can’t wait to keep watching! ** Note, this is a not family friendly show,  but if you like crime dramas… you might like this one! 😉

Truth time. I have never seen Gone with the Wind or even read the book! I know! It’s been on my list for AGES and I’m finally getting around to it now. So tonight’s the night. I’m about to be properly introduced to Scarlett O’Hara and watch what was for ages the highest-grossing film of all time in Canada and the US.

Are you a big Gone with the Wind fan? Can you believe I’ve never seen it? It’s free with your Amazon Prime membership, so if you’re like me and you’ve never seen it either, here’s your chance! We can watch it at the same time and then compare notes. Ha!

Friday Night at the Movies – The Queen at 90

Last weekend the HH and I sat down and watched Elizabeth at 90: A Family Tribute after dinner and we ABSOLUTELY loved it. “Prince William, Prince Harry, and other members of the Royal Family watch footage never before seen in public shot by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip over the sixty years of her reign.” 

The film was so sweet and every time Lady Sarah Chatto was talking I thought she was going to shed a tear. I loved everything about this documentary and I can’t think of one thing that could have made it any better.

It’s free on Netflix right now too. 🙂

Friday Night at the Movies – Anne with an E

If you are looking for an AH-Mazing show to watch this weekend, grab yourself some snacks, shirk all other responsibilities and binge watch Anne with an E. It is good. So so good. In fact, I loved it so much I watched the entire series back to back. I have to admit, I was a little nervous about an Anne of Green Gables remake. The original was so wonderful that it could have been a train wreck. It wasn’t. It IS different from the Anne of my childhood. It’s a little darker, but it works. And the casting is phenomenal. Seriously, if you don’t have Netflix, it’s worth getting just to watch this!
