I am your typical housewife living in high maintenance suburbia. I have a handsome husband, 2 kids and a flock of pet chickens. I try and feed my family with $100 a month. With the help of coupons, gardening and bartering I am able to squeeze the most out of our grocery budget and still manage to have a little fun along the way.

The Imitation Game is on the menu tonight. I found it free on Netflix and it had a great rating. I’m a big Benedict Cumberbatch fan, so I suspect I’m going to love it!

It’s about Alan Turing, a real-life war hero and pioneer of modern-day computing, who saves millions of lives by cracking Germany’s so-called unbreakable code during WWII. Looks fascinating.

Friday Night at the Movies – I Am Big Bird Movie

It has been awhile since I have loved a documentary quite like I loved this one. I am Big Bird is incredible! It tells the story of Caroll Spinney, the beloved puppeteer responsible for Sesame Street’s Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch for the last 45 years. Finding out more about the “man within the bird” just made me fall in love with Big Bird even more. Caroll Spinney is a great example of someone that was determined to do exactly what he loved to do first and then find a way to get paid for it.

I highly recommend it. So well done and so inspiring!

My kids LOVED the A Series of Unfortunate Events books, so when I saw Netflix was doing a series, I was so excited! The Girl and I have decided to binge watch season 1. It has a 5 star review and I’m thinking this would be a good one for the whole family.

I know Meryl Streep is the star of the show, but anyone else think Hugh Grant has aged so well? 😉 From the first time I saw this preview I wanted to see it. This one is also based on a true story. Florence Foster Jenkins was an American socialite and amateur soprano who was known and mocked for her flamboyant performance costumes and notably poor singing ability. I cringed when I heard her in the trailer. This should be fun!
