I am your typical housewife living in high maintenance suburbia. I have a handsome husband, 2 kids and a flock of pet chickens. I try and feed my family with $100 a month. With the help of coupons, gardening and bartering I am able to squeeze the most out of our grocery budget and still manage to have a little fun along the way.

This weekend we’ll be checking out the miniseries Poldark {Free for Amazon Prime Members}.

What better way to celebrate National Apple Day than to settle in a watch The Cider House Rules?  I think, out of sheer respect for apples, I’ll probably whip up a quick apple crisp to nosh on while I watch.  What can I say, I am very committed to apples.

If you haven’t seen movie, it’s about a boy who is raised in an orphanage.  He is mentored by the orphanages caretaker {who happens to be a doctor, as well}, and trained up to be a doctor himself.  The bulk of the movie is about him striking out on his own, to learn a little bit about life…and love.

While The Girl and I were searching for a movie to watch we came across The Spiderwick Chronicles and decided that hey, since it’s available to watch free via Amazon Prime, that we’d take a stroll down memory lane and watch it again. Monkey Boy and The Girl LOVED this series when they were younger and had all the books and field guides as well. It’s amazing how fast they grow up. Sniff sniff. 😉

Okay. So this movie looks hilarious. Have you seen it? The Meddler stars recent widow (Susan Sarandon) as she crosses coasts to be closer to her daughter (Rose Byrne) and then meddles in the lives of those around her. Hmmm.
