I am your typical housewife living in high maintenance suburbia. I have a handsome husband, 2 kids and a flock of pet chickens. I try and feed my family with $100 a month. With the help of coupons, gardening and bartering I am able to squeeze the most out of our grocery budget and still manage to have a little fun along the way.

Holy modern day Van Gogh!  Finding Vivian Maier is about a man who buys a trunk at auction, only to find out it is filled with totally uh-mazing photography by a woman who was deemed totally ordinary in her living years.  The more they uncover about the photographs {which become an international sensation} the more people realize how little people who knew about the private woman behind the camera.  This is the a story about a QUIRKY, but crazy talented woman and her art.

It’s FREE to stream on Netflix.

Friday Night at the Movies – The Barkley Marathons

First rule of the Barkley Marathons:  Don’t talk about the Barkley Marathons.  This is the fight club of marathon runners.  What a bunch of nuts!  That being said, I totally LOVED this documentary.  The entry fees alone are hilarious!

This marathon was inspired by a famous prison break, and it’s so hard, it’s only seen “10 finishers in its first 25 years.”  It’s all about people who are looking to push themselves to their limits.  It’s rad.  Watch it.

Over the holiday break, I watched this fascinating documentary {free on Netflix} called Famous Nathan.  It’s about the Nathan’s hot dog shop on Coney Island.  First off, I have never really stopped to think about the people behind the businesses that are now legendary icons–let alone their relationships and stories.  This documentary shows it all.  It’s crazy how you forget their are real people behind every story.

The Grand Budapest Hotel is quite possibly the quirkiest movie I’ve ever seen, but the HH and I really, really liked it. Ralph Fiennes? C’mon, he’s a total hottie in my book {I’ve been in love with him since the English Patient}. Anywho, the HH picked this movie for one of our “date days” and even though we had to pay $3.99 to rent it through Amazon Video, it was worth every penny. We totally recommend it.
