I am your typical housewife living in high maintenance suburbia. I have a handsome husband, 2 kids and a flock of pet chickens. I try and feed my family with $100 a month. With the help of coupons, gardening and bartering I am able to squeeze the most out of our grocery budget and still manage to have a little fun along the way.

This weekend The Girl and I are going to check out Fun With Dick and Jane.  It’s about a suburban couple {Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni} who find themselves in financial ruin after his firm goes belly up.  They decide that in order to make ends meet, they will start robbing from big businesses Robin Hood style.  Jim Carrey is always good for a laugh, and I am in the mood for something light, so I figure, what the heck.

Friday Night at the Movies – Rear Window

Recently One Hundred Dollar a Month reader, Melanie, suggested I watch the Alfred Hitchcock movie Rear Window.  After reading the premise, I got a pretty good chuckle.  It’s about a man confined to a wheel-chair after breaking his leg.  He passes his day by watching all of his neighbors’ lives unfold in the front courtyard.

Man-oh-man, can I relate…since I’ve started watching the neighbors out of my front window, I’ve learned a thing or two about their habits and lives.  I’ll definitely have to check this one out {and maybe invest in some binoculars.}  😉

Have you ever seen Pleasantville?  It’s kind of an older movie that I like to re-watch every so often.  It’s about a boy and girl {living a kind of under-whelming life} who get sucked into an old television program from the 50’s  The program is set in a town called Pleasantville, where everything is “perfect” all of the time.  It’s kind of a sweet story about how nothing is as it seems, and sometimes a little bit of messiness in life is a good thing.

So, I’m going to take a little bit different approach this week to Friday Night at the Movies.  I read Wild, but I am not sure if I want to watch the movie.  Before I pay to rent it, I thought I’d ask my peeps {that’s you} if you’ve seen it?  Is it worth my time/money?  Will I be disappointed if I’ve read the book?
