I am your typical housewife living in high maintenance suburbia. I have a handsome husband, 2 kids and a flock of pet chickens. I try and feed my family with $100 a month. With the help of coupons, gardening and bartering I am able to squeeze the most out of our grocery budget and still manage to have a little fun along the way.

Maybe it’s the nostalgia of us quickly approaching becoming empty nesters, but I’ve been in the mood for coming of age stories lately.  A friend recommended I watch The Way, Way Back…well, way, way back when, and I am just getting in the mood.  It’s about a boy who travels with his mom, his mom’s boyfriend, and the boyfriend’s daughter to a summer house in the Hamptons.  The boy ends up working for a water park, and there, finds the confidence he’s been lacking.  It’s also supposed to be pretty darn funny.  Fingers-crossed that it delivers.

I have wanted to watch Fed Up since it came out last year.  I totally forgot about it, though, until it popped up as a suggestion on Amazon.  Luckily for me, even though I forgot, Amazon knows how to entice me with its suggestions.  It’s a food documentary looking into our sugar consumption and the obesity epidemic.  I love me a good food documentary–though, I feel terrible when I eat a licorice rope while watching them {it doesn’t stop me, but I DO feel terrible about it}.

I watched Enough Said awhile back on the recommendation of a friend, and  you know what?  It was actually pretty darn good.  It is about two divorcees trying to navigate the world of dating and love, all while raising teenage daughters.  It is painfully and truthfully awkward–in a well-done sort of way.  So, since I probably won’t have time to sit down and watch something new tonight, I thought I would throw this one out as a recommendation for you peeps instead.

Have you seen GMO OMG?  It’s a documentary about GMO food sources here in America.  It’s been a long time since I’ve watched a food documentary, so when I saw this while browsing at Target the other day, I thought I would come home and see if it’s available on Amazon.  Sure enough, it is, so I think I am going to check it it out.
