One Hundred Dollars a Month

I am your typical housewife living in high maintenance suburbia. I have a handsome husband, 2 kids and a flock of pet chickens. I try and feed my family with $100 a month. With the help of coupons, gardening and bartering I am able to squeeze the most out of our grocery budget and still manage to have a little fun along the way.

A big thanks to One Hundred Dollars a Month reader Jen who let me know about Patagonia’s Worn Wear Campaign. When I was a teenager, I owned a purple Patagonia zip up jacket and let me tell you Bob, it was the coolest jacket ever. And I kept it for about 10 years before donating it to a local thrift shop so someone else could enjoy it.

After seeing this video though, I wish I would have kept it. {I think my favorite story is the guy with the board shorts}.

Tonight I am going to check out Planeat.  It’s about a man’s search for a sustainable diet that satisfies the body and the needs of the planet.  You know I am a sucker for food documentaries, so when this one popped up in my Amazon recommendations, I thought I’d better give it a whirl.

Friday Night at the Movies – The Paradise

Tonight, The Girl and I are going to start The Paradise.  My friend Jen told me about this series, and I figured while we wait for Downton Abbey to return, it would be the perfect time to start watching it.  It’s is about a girl who heads to the big city and gets a job at The Paradise, Britain’s first high brow department store.

The girl, of course, catches the eye of the store’s owner {I smell a love interest brewing}.  It’s a Masterpiece Classic, so I am sure I will love it.
