One of my goals this year is to simplify and one of the ways I plan to do that is to sell or donate at least 1,000 ordinary items that are crowding our closets and drawers by the end of July. My goal date is set for the end of July because my neighborhood has a big community yard sale every summer and while I don’t mind dropping stuff at the thrift store, I’d like to see if I could make a few bucks at the yard sale first.
Ahh the garage. Can I just say I am glad it’s finally cleaned out? Well, I mean all my yard sale boxes are stacked up in there but the general cleaning? It’s done. And it feels good to check that baby off my list.
9 flower pots, 1 owl bucket, 1 vertical garden and a crazy heavy cast iron lantern I bought at one of Girl Girl’s yard sales like 12 years ago for $10. I bet I can still get $10 for it too. 😉
25 tiny terra cotta planters, 1 plastic plant mold, 1 rusty muffin tin and a plastic shoe mat. Oh, and a pair of antique scissors that you could probably use to stab an intruder to death with.
Have you ever seen someone sell chemicals at a yard sale before? Don’t you think some guy will come along and be happy to pay a quarter each for these? I mean seriously, it might make having to ride around with the little woman all morning while she checks every yard sale in town for that long lost cookie jar of her youth totally worth it for someone.
Radom blue bar, Nylon rope that I swear has been in our various garages for at least 10 years, some sort of metal wire and I think that might be a tool to pull up tile.
Rollerblades. Remember these? When I was 18 and working at a sporting good store, a rep came around and all the employees got to try a pair out in the parking lot one night after closing. THEY WERE AWESOME. Apparently my kids didn’t think so though and now it’s time to say bye bye.
Which is actually a good thing because they are kind of dangerous. But then again so are skateboards, bikes, scooters and anything else that’s fun.
Only 151 more items to go!
