Hi Mavis,
I found a recipe for Tang Jelly and just HAD to try it! The recipe is from a 1974 Sure-Jell booklet. The Tang goes on sale at Fred Meyer and QFC for $1 quite often – with a $1/2 coupon = .50! I think they would look better in those squatty 4-oz. jars {since these will be gifts} but I don’t have any empty and this was a last minute project. 🙂
Ingredients
3 3/4 cups sugar
3 cups water
1/2 cup Tang
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1 box {1 3/4 oz} powdered pectin
Measure sugar and set aside. Combine remaining ingredients in a large saucepan and mix well. Place over high heat and stir until mixture comes to a hard boil.
Add all the sugar at once and keep stirring. Bring to a full rolling boil and boil hard 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and skim foam {if there is any}. Ladle into jars. Wipe rims, apply lids. Place in water bath for 10 minutes.

Sounds interesting. I can honestly say that I was unaware that they still even MADE Tang!

Fred Meyer has their canning jars B1G1 Free. They have the antique blue ones, that were available 3 years ago for the anniversary, now in Quart Jars. That made two boxes (4 per box) $9.99.
Did you know their is a worldwide Vanilla shortage? Found none at Coscto 2 weeks ago. They said their Kirkland had gone up to $16.99 and had flown out at that price. Of course I waited until I only had 1 tsp to find this out. They won’t have anymore arriving until July 1st at my store. I may try a mexican grocery store.
