I had heard wonderful things about Tatte Bakery and Cafe so while the HH and I were in Boston last month I made sure it was on our walking tour of the downtown area. Have you ever been to Boston? I just LOVE it. The city is so pedestrian friendly and everywhere you turn it seems like there is a famous monument or historic building to discover.
We arrived at Tatte bakery around 11 am and the shop was bustling with mid morning customers.
The pastry case was my favorite {of course} and I had a really hard time deciding what to choose. The HH always goes for something savory, and me? Well I’m there for the sugar rush. 🙂
If I lived around the corner, I’d probably find an excuse to stop by every day for a cuppa or a new pastry. Wait. Actually, I’d probably apply to work part time there so I could try everything. Don’t you think working at a bakery would be the best job ever? Especially around the holidays. Going home at the end of a long day and smelling like a giant muffin would be pretty ideal in my book.
In the end I decided on a goat cheese panna cotta tart with fresh fruit. And let me tell you, it was divine.
And the London fog I ordered? It was the best one I’ve had all year. Seriously, the next time I’m in Boston, I’m going to drag my friend Heather there just for a cuppa. The temperature, portion size, earl grey tea they used and the vanilla syrup was the best on the planet. Soooooo good. And so worth the trip.
Tatte Bakery and Cafe in Boston. If you’re ever in town, be sure and stop by.

The bakery looks lovely but what I need to say is that when a see “I’m your typical housewife” on your blog – I nearly spit my coffee, I would dare say that you are anything but typical! I mean that in that best possible way! If you define “typical” well that’s what I want to be!

Isn’t funny that we all think we are the normal ones. Ha!

So a London Fog is earl grey, steamed milk and vanilla syrup? Sounds pretty good. Did you find out where they buy their earl grey? I used to love Numi decaf earl grey, but they don’t make it anymore.

I did not ask, but I suppose I could give them a call. I LOVE Numi teas.

We are not connoisseurs, but my daughter’s and I tried a taste test of Earl Grey teas, we tried several name brands, organic and traditionally grown, regular and decaffeinated. In a blind test taste given to each other, we all chose Bigelow’s decaf Earl Grey.
We also found decaf teas to be a lot less bitter.
My favorite black tea is Tetley brewed hot, strong and sweet.
Tho’ I do have to say, I have yet to try a Numi tea that I haven’t enjoyed.
My current crush is Pukka Revitalize, a spicy green tea that is a delight! Perfect for this time of year. Funny story, I’ve had a problem finding it locally although the Whole Foods in the Portland/Tigard/Beaverton area has had it on occasion. My sister was in Amsterdam last spring and say it in the grocery store for half the price she normally pays. I had her get me six boxes!

These posts always make me think I should recommend Petite Provence next time you’re in Portland. Great pastries. GREAT pastries.
