I found these cool Pilgrim Hat treats on Our Best Bites the other day and thought they would make awesome treats for a Thanksgiving party at school. They are ridiculously easy to put together and super cute. What more could you ask for?
Ingredients
1 Bag Regular sized marshmallows
1 Bag Chocolate Chips
1 Tbsp. shortening
1 pkg. Fudge striped cookies
Yellow frosting
Directions
On a flat surface, lay the fudge striped cookies striped-side down. Heat the chocolate and shortening {the shortening keeps the chocolate smooth and helps it harden} on the stove or in the microwave to get it nice and melty, stirring constantly. Then, dip a marshmallow into the chocolate and set in on top of the fudge side of the cookie {smack dab in the center of the cookie}. Allow it to dry and harden. When the chocolate has hardened, draw on a buckle with yellow frosting.
Cute, right?!
Happy Thanksgiving,
Mavis

We made these today! I had _2_ total fails with the melted chocolate (I don’t have shortening – neither 1T of butter nor 1T of cream was a workable substitute), but hubby saved it later with a lot of hot cream. They were a hit at Grammie’s house this evening 🙂
