In my opinion, Memorial Day kicks off the season of BBQs and backyard parties. I’m sure there are people having them all year long, but for me, when Memorial weekend rolls around I get the BBQ itch and start skimming through all of my favorite BBQ recipes. I’ve gathered up my favorites so you can get to planning your next shindig. These recipes are great to bring as a sharable dish to a potluck and many are easily portable, so picnics are a snap! Good friends, full bellies and lots of laughter. That’s what I’m looking forward too!
Main Dishes
Gourmet Spinach Blue Cheese Burgers: Nothing against the usual BBQ cuisine, but if you’re looking for a good recipe to take your BBQ to the next level, this burger recipe is it.
Roadside Sliders Recipe: This recipe is about as simple as it gets. But that doesn’t mean it’s simple in flavor! It’s a great quick BBQ recipe, too, because you just whip the frozen burgers out and throw them on the grill!
Peach Ginger Glazed Chicken: If you’ve never combined peach and ginger in a recipe, this chicken will make you fall in love with the combo! Yum!
BBQ Salmon: Grilled salmon is a staple on our summer BBQ menu. And this is always my go-to recipe. Why mess with perfection, right?
Garlic Beef Kabobs: Any meat is just more fun when you make a kabob out of it! Luckily, this recipe is fun AND tasty!
Traditional Side Dishes
Slow Cooked Boston Baked Beans: Good things come to those who wait, right? Well if you’ve never made real baked beans before {as opposed to opening a can} then you simply must give it homemade baked beans a try. Your taste buds will thank you.
Kentucky Fried Chicken Cole Slaw: This coleslaw is every bit as good as it’s namesake, except it doesn’t come in a Styrofoam container. Even better than the real thing!
Bacon Wrapped Corn on the Cob: Man-o-man will this be a hit at your next BBQ. Sometimes corn on the cob is messy and a pain because it gets stuck in your teeth, but the added flavor of the bacon makes all that flossing worth it!
Salads
Easy Summer Recipes – Quinoa Salad with Cucumbers and Mint: Quinoa is a food obsession of mine. I think I could live off of the stuff. And the flavors combinations in this quinoa salad are out-of-this-world good!
Instant Pot Creamy Potato Salad: If you have an Instant Pot, this will be the quickest potato salad you’ve ever made. And it just might be the most delicious, too!
Pasta Salad with Salami and Olives: For years, I brought this pasta salad {with slight variations} to practically every put luck I attended. I’ve branched out a little, but it’s always a hit when I make it!
Bulgur Salad with Chick Peas, Cucumbers, Red Peppers, Lemon and Dill – I love this recipe for much more than it’s taste {which packs a powerful punch!}. I love it because it packs really well. It’s become my pot luck staple!
Grandma’s 7-Up Orange Jell-O Salad: My Grandma’s recipe for 7-Up Orange Jell-O Salad is one of my favorites and makes all of my BBQs feel complete. It might sounds like a weird combo, but it totally works!
Desserts
Strawberry Short Sheet Cake : This sheet cake version of strawberry shortcake is dessert perfection. It’s sweet but not overwhelmingly so. You can of course sweeten it up as much as you want with some whipped cream or ice cream!
Apple Crumb Pie: Since the saying goes, “it’s American as apple pie,” it makes sense that you’d serve this scrumptious pie while BBQ’ing—another very American past time!
Chocolate Cake Brownies with Chocolate Icing: I’ve never met a brownie I didn’t like, but I have liked a few more than others. This one takes the cake {no pun intended}!
Peanut Butter and Jelly Bars: This power duo is not just for sandwiches anymore, they’ve invaded the dessert scene, and I’m so glad they did! These bars will know your socks off!
My Favorite Carrot Cake Recipe: There are few things better than a good carrot cake. Well, maybe a second slice of said cake!
Banana Pudding : This recipe may cause you to lock yourself in the closet with a very large spoon. It is totally possible you could eat the entire pan of pudding if you do not take precautions. I’m telling you, if the Pilgrims had bananas they would have made this everyday of the week!
And there you have one delicious, comprehensive recipe list for your next BBQ!
Party on,
~Mavis
