I’m happy to report… The Girl Who Thinks She’s A Bird received a perfect score in photography class this semester…(She took all the photos in this post btw).
At one point she actually had a score of 102% in the class (she received extra credit for entering a photo contest and a few more points for taking photo’s at a museum outside of school hours).
And she would of stayed at 102% if it wasn’t for me pulling her out of school for a Doctor’s appointment. She had complained about her foot hurting (for about a month) every time she ran… or walked… and towards the end she even limped a little too…
So by the time I finally got around to taking her in… she was convinced there was something seriously wrong…
And there was…It was broken… (Oops!) But hey… the good news is since it took me so long to take her in… Her foot’s already half way healed! 🙂
How about YOU? Any I’m the crappiest parent ever stories you wanna share?

Good grief! Poor you (and her).
(It’s actually pretty funny, though.)

I’m a crappy parent every time my kids get sick..I always make them wait it out, try something herbal, sleep, fluids…sometimes it works…sometimes it’s full blown xyz by the time we get in to the dr. I’ve just never been one to run with every little sniffle or boo boo.
You’re not a crappy mom…you are a good and NORMAL mom. 😉
The Girls photos are SO GOOD…love the strawberries…and the feather on the rock…gorgeous.
(Couldn’t the teacher have eased up a bit since it was an EXCUSED absence? Sheesh!)

Gorgeous photos! I remember taking one of my kids (when they were a baby- but I can’t remember which one) to their yearly check up at the doctors only to find out they had a double ear infection. I had no idea. I agree with Michelle. Not crappy. Normal:-).

Amazing pictures.
I spent three weekends in a row helping my daughter make valentines day cards when she was in kindergarten and then I mixed up the day of the party so she was the only kid in her class that didn’t have any to pass out.

Taking a student out of school for a doctor’s appt should not have an effect on her grade. This would be considered an excused absence. I protest! Give her back the 102! Great photos.

I agree with Clancy.
Years ago, I was actually 18 at the time, I had been getting sick off and on, but it wasn’t often enough for me to be too concerned…except when I was in severe pain. The pain usually went away pretty quickly, but one Thursday it didn’t. I remember looking at the clock thinking, “I’m glad I didn’t have to go to work today.” It was about 6 pm. Around 11 pm I was still in pain and had to beg my mother to take me to the hospital. I had to get her out of bed, too.
Boy did I get an earful about how there was nothing wrong with me, she had to go to work the next morning, etc, etc.
Well…it turns out I was in need of major surgery ASAP. I having gall bladder problems.
Boy did she feel like the worst mother in the world. The pain was so bad I was on morphine, and she kept saying how horrible she felt. Not gonna lie – kinda liked that I proved her wrong. When I read this post I reminded her of this time. She still justifies that she was tired and had to work and if she responded every time I complained, we’d never leave the doctor’s office. She also said her mother had a very similar reaction when she was 17 and had appendicitis. I wonder if I’ll have the same reaction with my children…
By the way, I LOVE the new site!

My daughter recently kept complaining of fluid coming out of her ears and that she couldn’t hear anything. I kept telling her that it was because she had been swimming and had pool water in her ears. This continued on for a couple of weeks. Finally one morning I actually saw the fluid coming out of her ears… and it definitely wasn’t pool water! I took her to the doctor only to find out that both of her eardrums had burst! Worst. Mother. Ever. In my defense, she never complained that they hurt even once, just that she couldn’t hear. Still. My children have unfairly maligned me ever since!
