Seriously? I planted 150 strawberry plants and this is all that has been harvested so far! 3 flippin berries. I cannot compete with the chipmunks and slugs. It’s official: I surrender. I plan on going to the local farm stand later this week to buy a couple of flats. It’s either that or no berries for me. The junk they sell in the grocery stores/ Costco is picked unripe and flown in from California or Mexico and is tasteless. It’s the real thing or nothin. By the way, if I was a housewife back 100 years ago living off the land and didn’t have a store to buy berries from, I’d be pretty pissed off. So pissed off that I might think of ways to shoot/kill/roast/and use the pelts of chipmunks.
Anyone got any good recipes for slugs?
Picking the Easter Egg Radish every few days. Spicy but good.
The girl and I went hunting for wild salmon berries and came back with 1lb 4 oz. Not too shabby!
We have been picking the sugar snap peas for a week now. We get about 8/10 oz every other day. It’s just the perfect amount to snack on, but not enough to blanch and freeze. I think I will try and grow some more in the fall.
