Yesterday morning the HH and I drove up to Seattle to check out the The Northwest Flower and Garden Show. We got there right when the doors opened {because we’re nerdy like that}. Well, actually, we wanted to beat the crowds. 😉
Succulents were very popular this year. We kept spotted displays throughout the garden show. I’m pretty sure you could re-create this planter with a succulent kit from amazon.
Cobblestone paths with spring borders… are dreamy.
Mrs. HB! This is similar to the chicken coop I was telling you about. We’d have to make yours quite a bit bigger but I think we could build it.
Potting sheds. One of these days I’m going to have a really cool one. I bet the grapevine balls look lovely all lit up at night.
Okay, so these glass flowers were Ah-mazing! I wanted to buy all of them. Aren’t they cool? I could see totally making these out of old glass plates, cups, lemon juicers and frogs.
I told the HH that these were going to be a big hit with the ladies this year.
Check out the dresser they made. Seriously!!!! So cool. This piece of furniture would be perfect in the shabby chic/cottage style home don’t you think?
My favorite garden tool guy, Tuli Fisher was there again. I own 5 of his tools and let me tell you Bob, they are worth every penny. They feel great in my hands and all his pieces are truly a work of art. I LOVE using mine in the garden.
Between the pavilions this year they had several patio scapes on display and this one was my favorite. If I lived in an apartment and had a patio I’d want to set it up like this.
As simple as this coir basket liner is, I think it looks pretty fantastic filled with tiny grape hyacinth flowers.
And last but not least…. check out this wedding cake.
What a beauty! Do people actually eat these types of cakes or do you think it’s more of a display piece? How much would something like this cost? All that handiwork! Cutting into it would be painful.
The Northwest Flower and Garden Show…. if you get a chance, pop over and have a look. And even if you’re not a local, garden shows are happening now all over the United States, find yours and make a day of it.
Spring, it’s right around the corner. 🙂

Mavis, that looks so beautiful. I wish we had something like that here, it makes me miss being a florist and being in flowers all day long. I agree those GLASS FLOWERS are amazing!!!!

Taking my mom because she loves gardening and flowers. I’m very concerned of parking and the distance to the entrance. She does have a handicap card. Can you give me an idea of the area? Also my email is ggjudi08@yahoo.com

I adore going to flower and gardening shows. They just seem so hopefully in the dregs of winter.
The patio garden post got me thinking. I love digging in the dirt but live in a town home (hello HOA) and have limited space and dirt to work with. Would you ever conside a post that asked people to send photos of their current place and open it up for your audience (and you, of course) to give your thoughts and ideas for a makeover / revamp. It goes without saying, on a shoestring budget 🙂

Emily send your photos in {just make sure they are clear and of good quality} to onehundreddollarsamonth @gmail .com {remove the spaces} and I can ask peeps for you. 🙂

Mavis you can totally make those glass flowers. We did. They never die away and don’t need water!! Our limit is $1per piece of glass. You find stuff everywhere. Habitat for Humanity is a gold mine even for the “stems”. Try it, it let’s your creative side bloom!!

I have made some glass flowers, but have not found a good solution for stems. What did you use?

If you are ever on the east cost in the spring you should try and check out the Philadelphia Flower show. Very beautiful too!
