Thanksgiving is the official holiday kick-off. It means pumpkin everything, house guests, and FOOD…lots and lots of food. {It used to kick off the holiday shopping season as well, but we all know that Christmas everything hit the stores in late September.}
And while Thanksgiving exists to bring out the thankful in all of us, it sometimes brings out the stress, anxiety, and general loathing of that overly critical aunt or uncle you are obligated to invite to the feast. Rather than let the little annoying aspects overrun the magic in your holiday, though, I’ve assembled all of my best tips and tricks from throughout the years to help you take back your holiday.
So you’ve agreed to host the big day? Now what? That thought runs through my head pretty much every year that I’ve agreed to host. Luckily, I’ve created a Thanksgiving Planning Timeline and Checklist. It keeps me on track and helps justify binge watching Netflix once my “chores” for the week are done.
I would be completely remiss if I didn’t just accept that Thanksgiving is really about the food. Yes, yes, the perfect turkey! And…
The a mouth-watering selection of sides and rolls. But…
Let’s be real, the real feast lies in the pies. Sweet, glorious, “did I just eat 4 slices?” pies. Pumpkin, cranberry, acorn pies…oh my.
Once you’ve got the table covered with decadent deliciousness, you have that crazy obligation of conversation between bites. Not to worry, my pets, I’ve got you covered there too. How about some Thanksgiving Trivia…or Thanksgiving Conversation Starters?
Now all you have to do is decide you how to use the leftovers.
Now get out there and kick Thanksgiving’s tail.

Am so lucky that my husband is a wonderful cook. Since we’ve been married, he does ALL the holiday cooking. And our children are also excellent cooks. This year, both our children are going to be with their significant others and their families. So its just my husband and myself. Looked into going out to a restaurant, but those that we looked into are doing buffets. We are not interested. So we are doing only those items that we want left overs. The rest of the traditional menu is being dropped. Ah the joys of growing old.
