If you wear corduroys, sport a man bun, are in the mobile workforce, under 30 or just plain artsy… You’ll fit right in here. If you are in the 45-50 crowd and like my husband and need to put on “readers’ to see your food… Well, you might just stick out like a sore thumb. But then again, if you’re part of the older crowd, you totally won’t care that you are sandwiched in between a bunch of hipsters because when it comes to a good restaurant, all bets are off. You’re there for the food. Not to feel 25 again.
The Wandering Goose Restaurant in Seattle originally caught my eye because it was close to where my Mother was having her procedure done last week. I knew she’d probably really like the food but walking there would be a little out of her comfort zone {being in Downtown Seattle and all} and since parking can be kind of tricky in Seattle, I decided to wait and try the Wandering Goose with the HH on our date day to the Northwest Flower and Garden Show. Plus, c’mon now, this wasn’t exactly the kind of place where you could pick up a few freebies or ask for extra lemons and limes to shove in a little Tupperware container and bring home. Hahahaha. Love ya Mom!
Am I being to hyper observant here? I swear, sometimes I over think things, or notice things that don’t even register in other people’s minds. I’m a nut. I know that. And clearly I’m okay with it. It would just be nice though, to just once, meet someone as tuned into the little things as I am. Or maybe it wouldn’t. Maybe it would be crippling and I wouldn’t be able to order anything off of the menu. Who knows.
Yada yada yada…. if you find your way to The Wandering Goose in Seattle, order the BUBBLE & SQUEAK. It. Is. Flipping. Fantastic. What is the bubble and squeak you ask? Braised beef brisket, veggies, potatoes and 2 poached eggs. Seriously, it’s the best thing I’ve eaten in the last 6 months. You won’t regret it.
Food. When it’s crazy good… I just have to share. Nom. Nom.

The restaurant sounds good but the cost of parking in Seattle is really outrageous. We went to
the Flower and Garden show on Friday and could not find a lot that was not full. The one we finally
had to chose was $40 for the day. We will not be back. Last year it was $25 and I was shocked. The
light rail seems inconvenient to the Convention center with a 6-8 block walk but we may have to try
it IF we ever go back.

We have always gone super early on the first day of the garden show. This year I think we paid $12 for early bird parking {before 8 am} in the lot across from the convention center. Parking is nuts in the city. As for the restaurant though, we were able to find off street parking 3 blocks away for free {2 hours}. When my friend Heather and I went to the Boston home and garden show parking was $35!!! I couldn’t believe it.

On the post where you are speaking of being super observant, would it happen to be all the stuff in the bottom of the display case you are referring to? It is one of my pet peeves, a couple local restaurants do this and I think to myself how tacky it looks, I don’t want food I may purchase to be ‘stored’ with supplies…one of these things just doesn’t belong! lol If it isn’t then I have other issues! lol
Mavis Butterfield says
I think the whole case should be food too.

I’m hyper observant. It has finally dawned on me that not everyone sees what I see! It can be a hard way to live! I just have to constantly push things out of my mind or I’d never be able to eat out or stay in a hotel! Look away and don’t think about it! 🙂

It sounds so fun! While we were in Seattle, we really enjoyed a similar “fowl” themed restaurant, The Fat Hen. Communal tables and a lot of hipsters and under 30’s but we loved it and would be regulars if we lived anywhere near the PNW!
Also, because I know some of your readers live in or near Seattle…I have to recommend the Bainbridge Vineyards. Ask for Renee who is the sweetest person ever! We had so much fun on Bainbridge Island and joined the wine club simply to remain in contact with such a special place!

Haha! Yes, as soon as I looked at the picture, I was wondering what all the stuff was on the bottom shelf.
And, my husband and I are of a certain age and he also can’t eat with out his readers – except we call his “eaters”. The bubble and squeak looks amazing!
I’m looking forward to seeing your posts from over here on the east coast!!

Good luck with the countdown to your move. I guess I’m being a bit nosy, but I’m going to ask anyways. I was curious how your kids, your friends and your parents are feeling about your big move and so many miles between everyone. Will your husband be relocating with his job?
Enjoy your cross country expedition!! There is so much to enjoy if you can find the time to see some of the back roads to this great country!! Drive safe!!!!
